Test strips, nitrate/nitrite, QUANTOFIX®
Kits de tests environnementaux
QUANTOFIX® test strips meet all requirements of a modern rapid test. The colour of the reactive pad changes depending on the concentration of an analyte in the sample. The evaluation is usually carried out visually by comparison of the reaction colour with a multi-stage colour scale. These test strips are immediately ready to use. They do not require additional accessories. The test strips are intended for single-use, maintenance or calibration are not required.
- Results within seconds: Just dip, wait and read against multi-stage colour scale
- Always ready to use: No accessories necessary for evaluation
- Safe results: Desiccant in the stopper for optimal protection of the strips against humidity
These test strips are for the rapid and reliable determination of nitrate and nitrite in solutions. The easy 'dip and read' test strips provide a reliable result within 1 minute.
Nitrite is an undesired by-product in cooling lubricants. It allows the formation of carcinogenic compounds. Cooling lubricants are, therefore, regularly tested for nitrite. In natural and drinking water nitrite can lead to infant mortality and dead aquatic life. The EPA primary drinking water standard is 1 mg/L. Nitrate is also a by-product of biological decay from plant and animal matter. High concentrations can be found in rural farming areas where fertilisers are regularly used. Also, industrial effluents may contain nitrate in higher levels. The EU threshold value is 50 mg/L and can be safely controlled with QUANTOFIX® test strips.
Often different foods need to be tested for their nitrate content. Nitrate is often prevalent in preservatives or present in food due to over fertilisation. Excessive nitrate concentrations in food can have adverse effects on food quality and consumer health. Regular nitrate tests in the food industry are, therefore, very important. Additionally, farmers use this test to control the nitrogen content in soil to estimate the amount of fertiliser needed. In ponds and aquariums nitrate is often tested instead of ammonium to control water quality. These test strips are the ideal choice to check nitrate and nitrite levels quickly and safely.
Gradation: Nitrate: 0 · 10 · 25 · 50 · 100 · 250 · 500 mg/L NO₃-; Nitrite: 0 · 1 · 5 · 10 · 20 · 40 · 80 mg/l NO₂-
Colour: Nitrate: white → red-violet; Nitrite: white → red-violet
