LPT Diluent Broth
Milieux pour microbiologie
Milieux prêts à l'emploi de microbiologie
LPT diluent broth is a diluent for the microbiological analysis of cosmetics.
- Amber, clear or slightly opalescent
- pH: 7,0 ±0,2
- Shelf life: 2 years
LPT diluent broth is a liquid medium used for the preparation of the initial sample solution and its subsequent ones dilutions.
The enzymatic digest of casein provides carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals for the recovery of microorganisms. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the soil. Lecithin, sodium thiosulfate and tween 80 are included in the medium to inactivate the agents disinfectants used in the cosmetics industry to reduce contamination.
Lecithin neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds, the sodium thiosulphate neutralizes halogenated compounds while polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) is effective against phenolic compounds and derivatives of mercury. Phosphates have a buffering action.
Homogenise the sample at a 1:10 dilution (suspend 10 g or 25 ml of the sample in a bottle containing 90 ml of LPT diluent broth). If necessary, use this suspension to prepare further decimal dilutions. Inoculate appropriate plate media depending on the characteristics of the microorganisms to be searched.
Store the product at 10 to 25 °C away from light, until the expiration date indicated on the label. Delete if there are signs obvious signs of deterioration or contamination.
