[6]-Gingerol
ATPase activator.
Gingerol ([6]-gingerol), a pungent vanilloid isolated from ginger rhizomes (Zingiber officinale), is a novel and selective activator of skeletal and cardiac SR Ca²⁺-ATPase (EC₅₀ = 4 µM). It is a novel cardiotonic agent with antiplatelet activity. It induces apoptosis in HL-60 cells. Acts as an agonist at vanilloid receptors.
Soluble in 100% ethanol.
