Description:   Recognizes a single protein of 33-34 kDa, identified as the prostate specific antigen (PSA). This MAb is highly specific to PSA and stains prostatic secretory and ductal epithelium in both normal and neoplastic tissues. PSA is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease (kallikrein family) exclusively produced by the prostate epithelium, and abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma. It is predominantly complexed to a liver-derived serine protease inhibitor, alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT in prostate cancer than in benign prostate hyperplasia. This MAb makes an excellent pair with MAb 1A7G6B6 for PSA tests.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP contains an extracellular domain, a single transmembrane segment and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains, and thus represents a receptor-type PTP. This PTP has been shown to dephosphorylate and activate Src family tyrosine kinases, and is implicated in the regulation of integrin signaling, cell adhesion and proliferation. Three alternatively spliced variants of this gene, which encode two distinct isoforms, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Description:   MLC1 is a 377 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that may serve as a non-selective neuronal cation channel in brain. Mutant MLC1 proteins that show impaired folding have been corrected in vitro with the addition of a Ca(2+)-ATPase inhibitor, curcumin. Mutations in the gene encoding MLC1 is the cause of megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts, also known as van der Knaap disease, a rare syndrome characterized early in life by progressive brain destruction causing mental retardation and incoordination. Single nucleotide polymorphisms within the MLC1 gene may be associated with periodic catatonia, but there seems to be conflicting evidence on whether or not the gene is implicated in general schizophrenia.

Description:   C19orf46 is a 404 amino acid single-pass type IV membrane protein that belongs to the nesprin family. C19orf46 partcipates in the establishment of secretory epithelial morphology by inducing kinesin-dependent apical migration of the centrosome and Golgi apparatus as well as basal localization of the nucleus. C19orf46 interacts with UKHC and KCL1, and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms. C19orf46 contains a KASH domain, which consists of a transmembrane motif, mediates nuclear enevelop targeting and binds to the SUN domain of SUN1 and SUN2. C19orf46 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 19, which consists of approximately 63 million bases and makes up over 2% of human genomic DNA.

Description:   Part of pre- and post-splicing multiprotein mRNP complexes. Involved in numerous pre-mRNA processing events. Promotes constitutive and exonic splicing enhancer (ESE)-dependent splicing activation by bridging together sequence-specific (SR family proteins, SFRS4, SFRS5 and TRA2B/SFRS10) and basal snRNP (SNRP70 and SNRPA1) factors of the spliceosome. Stimulates mRNA 3'-end cleavage independently of the formation of an exon junction complex. Binds both pre-mRNA and spliced mRNA 20-25 nt upstream of exon-exon junctions. Binds RNA and DNA with low sequence specificity and has similar preference for either double- or single-stranded nucleic acid substrates.

Description:   ILVBL is a 632 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that belongs to the TPP enzyme family. Expressed in the majority of tissues, ILVBL has the highest level of expression in heart, pancreas and placenta. ILVBL is highly homologous to several bacterial enzymes, including the B isozyme of the large catalytic subunit of E. coli acetohydroxy-acid synthase (AHAS) and the oxalyl-coA decarboxylase of O. formigenes, that utilize thiamine pyrophosphate as a cofactor. ILVBL binds one magnesium ion and one thiamine pyrophosphate per subunit, and may catalyze the initial step in branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis. The gene encoding ILVBL maps to human chromosome 19p13.12 and mouse chromosome 10 C1.

Description:   This MAb reacts with an extracellular domain (close to transmembrane) of CD56/NCAM. Three isoforms of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) are produced by differential splicing of the RNA transcript from a single gene. The 135 kDa isoform is the basic molecule, which is glycosylated or sialylated to produce the mature species. Anti-CD56 recognizes two proteins of the neural cell adhesion molecule, the basic molecule expressed on most neuroectodermally derived tissues and neoplasms (e.g. retinoblastoma, medulloblastomas, astrocytomas, neuroblastomas, and small cell carcinomas). It is also expressed on some mesodermally derived tumors (rhabdomyosarcoma). Anti-CD56 plays an important role in the diagnosis of nodal and nasal NK/T-cell lymphomas.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene, a member of the peptidase C1 family, is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase that appears to be a central coordinator for activation of many serine proteinases in immune/inflammatory cells. It is composed of a dimer of disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, both produced from a single protein precursor, and a residual portion of the propeptide acts as an intramolecular chaperone for the folding and stabilisation of the mature enzyme. This enzyme requires chloride ions for activity and can degrade glucagon. Defects in the encoded protein have been shown to be a cause of Papillon-Lefevre syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder characterised by palmoplantar keratosis and periodontitis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Description:   Alpha-1-adrenergic receptors (alpha-1-ARs) are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. They activate mitogenic responses and regulate growth and proliferation of many cells. There are 3 alpha-1-AR subtypes: alpha-1A, -1B and -1D, all of which signal through the Gq/11 family of G-proteins and different subtypes show different patterns of activation. This gene encodes alpha-1B-adrenergic receptor, which induces neoplastic transformation when transfected into NIH 3T3 fibroblasts and other cell lines. Thus, this normal cellular gene is identified as a protooncogene. This gene comprises 2 exons and a single large intron of at least 20 kb that interrupts the coding region. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:   NAP125, also known as NCKAP1 (NCK-associated protein 1), p125Nap1 or membrane-associated protein HEM-2, is a 1,128 amino acid single pass membrane protein that exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms and belongs to the HEM-1/HEM-2 family. While widely expressed, NAP125 is found at highest levels in heart, brain and skeletal muscle where it regulates Rac-dependent actin remodeling as part of a lamellipodial complex with WAVE2, Abi-1 and CYFIP1. NAP125 localizes to the cytoplasmic side of lamellipodium membrane and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 2q32.1 and mouse chromosome 2 C3. NAP125 expression is markedly reduced in Alzheimer disease (AD)-affected brains, suggesting a possible role in the disease.
