Description:   This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200 kDa, identified as different members of CEA family. CEA is synthesized during development in the fetal gut and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. This MAb reacts with nonspecific cross-reacting antigen (NCA) and shows a cross-reaction with human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. It shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues and is suitable for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. CEA is not found in benign glands, stroma, or malignant prostatic cells. Antibody to CEA is useful in detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA ) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA ). Anti-CEA positivity is seen in adenocarcinomas from the lung, colon, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, gallbadder, urachus, salivary gland, ovary, and endocervix.

Description:   Stanniocalcin 1 (STC1) and stanniocalcin 2 (STC2) are mammalian peptide hormones that were previously considered to be present only in bony fish, where they are involved in calcium homeostasis. STC1 plays a role in calcium and phosphate homoeostasis and is phosphorylated in vitro by protein kinase C, and STC2 is phosphorylated in vitro by casein kinase II (CK2). A human fibrosarcoma cell line, HT1080, expresses both STC1 and STC2 as secreted phosphoproteins in vivo, with STC2 being phosphorylated by an ecto-CK2-like enzyme. STC1 and STC2 have opposite effects on calcium and phosphate homeostasis, namely anti-hypercalcemic and anti-hypocalcemic actions, respectively. Description:   Humanin, an endogenous anti-apoptotic peptide against Alzheimer disease-related insults, consists of 24 amino acids. The secreted protein is a neuroprotective factor against death induced by several different types of Alzheimer's disease genes. Humanin protects neuronal cells from damage caused by Alzheimer's disease genes, specifically APP (amyloid precursor protein). Humanin acts as a ligand for formyl peptide receptor-like 1 (FPRL1) with APP and utilizes its neuroprotective effects by inhibiting FPRL1 access to APP. The peptide prevents Bax translocation from cytosol to mitochondria. Humanin expression levels may be dependent on defects in energy production in muscles with mitochondrial abnormalities. The peptide has been detected in muscles of patients with the mitochondrial disease chronic progressive external ophthalmoplegia (CPEO). Humanin is mainly expressed in the kidney, heart, liver, testis and skeletal muscles.

Description:   Netrin proteins are a family of laminin-related secreted proteins that provide guidance signals for axonal growth and cell migration during development. Netrin signaling is dependent on the concentration of calcium outside the cell and the level of PKA activity. In axonal cells, a reduction in PKA activity converts the responsiveness of the axons to the netrin proteins, as the cells are repelled, rather than attracted, by the netrin gradient. Netrin-4 is related to the Laminin ∫ chains, and is therefore also designated ∫-netrin. It is present in the basement membranes of the vasculature, lateral olfactory tract, kidney and ovary. In humans, the gene encoding for the netrin-4 protein is localized to chromosome 12q22-q23. High levels of netrin-4 mRNA have also been detected in many cells and tissues, including cerebral cortex, hippocampus, amygdaloid nuclei and Purkinje cells. Netrin-4 is important in neural, kidney and vascular development.

Description:   IGSF1 is a highly glycolylated immunoglobulin domain-containing protein. IGSF1 has been shown to act as a coreceptor in inhibin signaling, however, it does not appear to be a high-affinity inhibin receptor by itself. May reduce or inhibit activin A signaling and is believed to be necessary in the mediation of specific effects of inhibin B on activin-stimulated transcription. IGSF1 has been found to interact with several members of the ACVR family and possibly some members of the BMPR group. There are 3 known isoforms of IGSF1, with 1 and 2 likely being multi-pass membrane proteins. Isoform 3 is believed to be expressed as a secreted form. It reacts with the mutant as well as the wild form of p53 under denaturing and non-denaturing conditions. p53 is a tumor suppressor gene expressed in a wide variety of tissue types and is involved in regulating cell growth, replication, and apoptosis. It binds to MDM2, SV40 T antigen and human papilloma virus E6 protein. Positive nuclear staining with p53 antibody has been reported to be a negative prognostic factor in breast carcinoma, lung carcinoma, colorectal, and urothelial carcinoma. Anti-p53 positivity has also been used to differentiate uterine serous carcinoma from endometrioid carcinoma as well as to detect intratubular germ cell neoplasia. Description:   Recognizes a protein of14 kDa, identified as MRP-14 (also known as Calgranulin B or S100AA9). It comprises 60% of the cytoplasmic protein fraction of circulating polymorphonuclear granulocytes and is also found in monocytes, macrophages and ileal tissue eosinophils. Peripheral blood monocytes carry the antigen extra- and intracellularly, neutrophils only intracellularly. It is a potent chemotactic factor for neutrophils. Plasma concentrations are elevated in diseases associated with increased neutrophil activity, like inflammatory bowel disease. Granulocytes terminate their existence after transmigration through the intestinal wall. Therefore, it is also detectable in feces. Elevated levels have been observed in body fluids such as plasma, saliva, gingival crevicular fluid, stools, and synovial fluid during infection and inflammatory conditions. This MAb reacts with neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages, and has been shown as an important marker for identifying macrophages in tissue sections.

Description:   This MAb reacts with a protein of 22 kDa, identified as beta subunit of HCG. It does not cross react with the alpha subunit. HCG is a glycoprotein, which is secreted in large quantities by normal trophoblasts. It is present only in trace amounts in non-pregnant urine and sera but rises sharply during pregnancy. HCG is composed of two non-identical, non-covalently linked polypeptide chains designated as the alpha and beta subunits. The alpha subunit is identical to that of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH). hCG MAb detects cells and tumors of trophoblastic origin such as choriocarcinoma. Large cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the lung demonstrate anti-hCG positivity in 90% and 60% of cases respectively. 20% of lung squamous cell carcinomas are positive. hCG expression by non-trophoblastic tumors may indicate aggressive behavior.
