Description:
Clathrin-coated pits and vesicles are assembled for receptor-mediated endocytosis through interaction with clathrin associated protein complexes. Vesicle transport is mediated from the trans-Golgi network by the adapter complex AP-1 and from the plasma membrane by the AP-2 complex. The AP-1 and AP-2 adapter protein complexes consist of clathrin binding adaptin proteins and two smaller subunits known as AP50 and AP17. The Alpha- and Beta-Adaptin chains have a similar two-domain organization with C-terminal domains that vary in both sequence and length. Alpha-Adaptin splice variants A and C display variable relative expression levels and differential distribution in different tissues. AP180 (also designated AP-3 or F1-20) is a synapse-specific clathrin assembly protein. The protein CALM (clathrin assembly protein lymphoid myeloid leukemia) is highly homologous to AP180 and may also be involved in clathrin assembly.

Description:
This gene is part of the family of Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factors. Members of this family activate Rho proteins by catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP. The protein encoded by this gene interacts with RhoA within the cell nucleus and may play a role in repairing DNA damage after ionizing radiation. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on the long arms of chromosomes 1, 7 and 18. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms.

Description:
PET112L is the human homolog of the S. cerevisiae COX assembly protein pet112, a protein that is believed to play an important role in the translation of mitochondrial genes. PET112L, also known as HSPC199 or Glu-ADT subunit B (glutamyl-tRNA(Gln) amidotransferase subunit B), is a 557 amino acid protein belonging to the gatB/gatE family of proteins (GatB subfamily) and is believed to play a role in energy metabolism. Localizing to mitochondria, PET112L is expressed in tissues such as heart and muscle, which exhibit high rates of oxidative phosphorylation. The gene encoding PET112L is overexpressed in recurrent ependymoma.

Description:
2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is a common systemic herbicide used in the control of broadleaf weeds. It is the most widely used herbicide in the world, and the third most commonly used in North America. 2,4-D is also an important synthetic auxin, often used in laboratories for plant research and as a supplement in plant cell culture media such as MS medium. 2,4-D is a synthetic auxin, which is a class of plant growth regulators. It is absorbed through the leaves and is translocated to the meristems of the plant. Uncontrolled, unsustainable growth ensues causing stem curl-over, leaf withering, and eventual plant death. 2,4-D is typically applied as an amine salt, but more potent ester versions exist as well.

Description:
The human protooncogene JUN is the putative transforming gene of avian sarcoma virus 17, and it encodes a protein which is highly homologous to the viral protein. cJun (previously known as the Fos binding protein p39) and c Fos form a complex in the nucleus. AP 1 (activating protein 1) is a collective term referring to these dimeric transcription factors composed of Jun, Fos or ATF subunits that bind to a common DNA site, the AP1 binding site. AP 1 proteins, mostly the Jun group, regulate the expression and function of cell cycle regulators such as Cyclin D1, p53, p21 (cip1/waf1), p19 (ARF) and p16. Fos and Jun proto oncogene expression is induced transiently by a variety of extracellular stimuli associated with mitogenesis, differentiation processes or depolarization of neurons. JUN has been mapped to 1p32 to p31, a chromosomal region involved in both translocations and deletions in human malignancies.

Description:
Recruited by REST to neuronal genes that contain RE-1 elements, leading to neuronal gene silencing in non-neuronal cells (By similarity). Preferentially catalyzes the dephosphorylation of 'Ser-5' within the tandem 7 residue repeats in the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A. Negatively regulates RNA polymerase II transcription, possibly by controlling the transition from initiation/capping to processive transcript elongation.

Description:
Brd4 belongs to the BET family, a group of structurally related proteins containing two bromodomains. Through these two domains, Brd4 associates with mitotic chromosomes and its expression correlates with cell growth. Expression of Brd4 inhibits cell cycle progression from G(1) to S, due to binding to the largest subunit of replication factor C (RFC) to prevent DNA elongation. Altered Brd4 function correlates with poorly differentiated carcinoma, with aggresive phenotype and a highly lethal outcome.

Description:
KAT3B/p300 is a transcriptional adapter protein (300 kDa)which is characterized by three cysteine and histidine rich regions and its C-terminus specifically binds the adenovirus E1A protein. KAT3B and associated proteins are components of TATA-binding protein (TBP)complexes. Protein kinase A mediated CREB phosphorylation results in the binding of CREB to a 265 kDa nuclear protein designated KAT3A/CBP(for CREB-binding protein). KAT3B and KAT3A are homologous to each other.
