Variant histone H2A which replaces conventional H2A in a subset of nucleosomes. Nucleosomes wrap and compact DNA into chromatin, limiting DNA accessibility to the cellular machineries which require DNA as a template. Histones thereby play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, also called histone code, and nucleosome remodeling. Required for checkpoint-mediated arrest of cell cycle progression in response to low doses of ionising radiation and for efficient repair of DNA double strand breaks (DSBs) specifically when modified by C-terminal phosphorylation.

DENND4C is a 1,673 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein. DENND4C contains a dDENN domain, DENN domain, uDENN domain and a PPR (pentatricopeptide) repeat. As a result of alternative splicing, six DENND4C isoforms exist. The gene encoding DENND4C maps to human chromosome 9, which houses over 900 genes and comprises nearly 4% of the human genome. Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, which is characterized by harmful vascular defects, and Familial dysautonomia, are both associated with chromosome 9. Notably, chromosome 9 encompasses the largest interferon family gene cluster.

CYP2R1 is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are mono-oxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This enzyme is a microsomal vitamin D hydroxylase that converts vitamin D into the active ligand for the vitamin D receptor.Defects in CYP2R1 are a cause of 25-hydroxyvitamin D(3) deficiency, also known as pseudovitamin D(3) deficiency rickets due to 25-hydroxylase deficiency. First described in patients who had rickets at a young age despite a history of adequate vitamin D intake. The patients sera had low calcium concentrations, low phosphate concentrations, elevated alkaline phosphatase activity and low levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D.

Description:
The large chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan, aggrecan, is the predominant proteoglycan present in cartilage. Aggrecan is a member of the chondroitin sulphate proteoglycan family, which also includes versican/PG-M, neurocan and brevican. Aggrecan is a complex multidomain macromolecule that undergoes extensive processing and post-translational modification. Aggrecan in cartilage forms aggregates with hyaluronan and link protein, embedded in a collagen network. Aggrecan accounts for the compressive stiffness and resilience of the hyaline cartilage. Many forms of inflammatory arthritis are shown to be accompanied with aggrecan degradation and loss from the cartilage. Brevican is a brain proteoglycan of the aggrecan/versican/neurocan family. In the adult brain, the brevican core protein undergoes proteolytic cleavage and exists as a full-length form a carboxy-terminal fragment and an amino-terminal fragment.

All five immunoglobulin classes share the same basic four polypeptide chain structure of two heavy-chains and two light chains. There are five heavy chain types, and two light-chain types (Kappa and Lambda) both having a molecular weight of 22.5kDa. Any heavy-chain type can associate with either light-chain type, but on any immunoglobulin molecule both light-chains are of the same type.
