Description:   Matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) is also known as 92 kDa type IV collagenase, 92 kDa gelatinase or gelatinase B (GELB), CLG4B, is secreted from neutrophils, macrophages, and a number of transformed cells, and is the most complex family member in terms of domain structure and regulation of its activity. . Structurally, MMP9 maybe be divided into five distinct domains: a prodomain which is cleaved upon activation, a gelatinbinding domain consisting of three contiguous fibronectin type II units, a catalytic domain containing the zinc binding site, a prolinerich linker region, and a carboxyl terminal hemopexinlike domain. This enzyme degrades various substrates including gelatin, collagen types IV and V, and elastin. MMP9 is involved in a variety of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis, and be regarded as a potential therapeutic target.

Description:   The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. The subunit encoded GABRP is expressed in several non-neuronal tissues including the uterus and ovaries. This subunit can assemble with known GABA A receptor subunits, and the presence of this subunit alters the sensitivity of recombinant receptors to modulatory agents such as pregnanolone. The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. Description:   The SEPT4 gene is a member of the septin gene family of nucleotide binding proteins, originally described in yeast as cell division cycle regulatory proteins. Septins are highly conserved in yeast, Drosophila, and mouse and appear to regulate cytoskeletal organization. SEPT4 encodes a protein that is thought to be part of a complex involved in cytokinesis.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, whose members are characterized by a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins function as regulators of CDK kinases. Different cyclins exhibit distinct expression and degradation patterns which contribute to the temporal coordination of each mitotic event. The cyclin encoded by this gene was shown to be expressed in testis and brain, as well as in several leukemic cell lines, and is thought to primarily function in the control of the germline meiotic cell cycle. This cyclin binds both CDK2 and CDC2 kinases, which give two distinct kinase activities, one appearing in S phase, the other in G2, and thus regulate separate functions in cell cycle. This cyclin was found to bind to important cell cycle regulators, such as Rb family proteins, transcription factor E2F-1, and the p21 family proteins. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Description:   Growth hormone receptor (GHR) is also known as somatotropin receptor, growth hormone-binding protein (GHBR), which belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family or Type 1 subfamily. GHR contains one fibronectin type-III domain. GHR / GHBR is expressed in various tissues with high expression in liver and skeletal muscle. The soluble form (GHBP) is produced by phorbol ester-promoted proteolytic cleavage at the cell surface (shedding) by ADAM17/TACE. GHR is receptor for pituitary gland growth hormone involved in regulating postnatal body growth. On ligand binding, couples to the JAK2/STAT5 pathway. The soluble form (GHBP) acts as a reservoir of growth hormone in plasma and may be a modulator/inhibitor of GH signaling.

Description:   SATB1 Antibody: Human special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-1 (SATB1) is a nuclear matrix/scaffold-associated region DNA-binding protein, predominantly expressed in the thymus and pre-B cells. Like its homolog SATB2, SATB1 selectively binds double-stranded, special AT-rich DNA sequences in which one strand exclusively consists of well-mixed A, T, and C nucleotides. SATB1 contains a dimerization domain that shares similarity with the PDZ motif, identified as an indispensable element for high-affinity binding of SATB1 to DNA. SATB1 constitutes a functional nuclear architecture that has a 'cage-like' protein distribution surrounding heterochromatin and regulates gene expression through chromatin remodeling/HDAC (histone deacetylase complex) and transcription factors recruitment. SATB1 functions as a 'genome organizer' essential for proper T-cell development. Recent studies show that SATB1 is necessary for breast cancer cells to become metastatic, and when ectopically expressed in non-metastatic cells, can induce invasive activity in vivo. At least two isoforms of SATB1 are known to exist.

Description:   SATB2 Antibody: Human special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-2 (SATB2) is a nuclear matrix/scaffold-associated region DNA-binding protein. Like its homolog SATB1, SATB2 selectively binds double-stranded, special AT-rich DNA sequences, but is expressed primarily in a subset of postmitotic, differentiating neurons in the neocortex. Mice deficient in SATB exhibit craniofacial abnormalities and defects in osteoblast differentiation and function. SATB2 also interacts with and enhances the activity of Runx2 and ATF4, two transcription factors that regulate osteoblast differentiation, indicating that SATB2 acts as a molecular node in a transcriptional network regulating skeletal development and osteoblast differentiation. Recent experiments have shown that SATB2 interacts with histone deacetylase 1 and metastasis-associated protein 2, two proteins that are involved in chromatin remodeling, suggesting that SATB2 may also be involved in mediating epigenetic influences during cortical development.

Description:   FES (feline sarcoma oncogene) and Fer are the only two members of a unique family of cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinases.FES and Fer contain a central Src homology-2 (SH2) domain and a carboxy-terminal tyrosine kinase catalytic domain. They are structurally distinguished from other members of cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinase subfamilies by the presence of amino-terminal Fer/CIP4 homology and coiled-coil domains. FES was originally identified as an oncogene from avian and feline retroviruses. Human c-Fes has been implicated in myeloid, vascular endothelial and neuronal cell differentiation. FES has tyrosine-specific protein kinase activity and that activity is required for maintenance of cellular transformation. Mutations may activate the FES kinase and thereby contribute to cancer. However, recent data strongly suggests that the c-FES protein-tyrosine kinase is a tumor suppressor rather than a dominant oncogene in colorectal cancer.

Description:   ZHANGFEI Antibody: ZHANGFEI, also known as ZF, is a basic region-leucine zipper transcriptional factor that has been implicated in herpes virus infection cycle and related cellular processes. ZHANGFEI protein has a negatively charged active N-terminus, a leucine zipper of six heptad leucine repeats separated by a conserved six amino acid spacer, a basic domain and a bZIP region. ZHANGFEI strongly activates transcription and suppresses the expression of HSV proteins in cells infected with the virus in a HCFC1 dependent manner. It also suppresses the HCFC1 dependent transcriptional activation by CREB3 and reduces the amount of CREB3 in the cell.

Description:   LRRFIP1 Antibody: LRRFIP1, also known as GC-binding factor 2 (GCF2), is a 738 amino acid transcriptional repressor that mainly plays a cytoskeletal role. It is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and preferentially binds to GC-rich dsDNA, but will also bind directly to dsRNA as well. The RNA binding domain encompasses a lysine-rich motif. LRRFIP1 interacts with the mammalian Flightless I (Fli-I) and is a key component in the cytoskeletal regulation of platelet function. LRRFIP1 and the related protein LRRFIP2 may modulate canonical WNT signaling and mediate the IRF3-induced production of type I interferon via a beta-catenin-dependent pathway.
