Indian hedgehog (IHH) is one of three proteins in the hedgehog family which includes sonic hedgehog and desert hedgehog. Hedgehog proteins are important signaling molecules, acting through patched and smoothened receptors. During embryonic development, they are expressed in the fetal lung, gut, stomach, liver, kidney, and pancreas. IHH is strongly expressed in cartilage and regions of developing bone, and its signaling regulates growth and differentiation of bone tissue (Marigo <i>et al.</i>; Valentini <i>et al.</i>; St-Jacques <i>et al.</i>). IHH is also involved in yolk sac vasculogenesis, indicating a role in the differentiation of epiblast cells into endothelial and red blood cells (Byrd <i>et al.</i>). Fumarase exists in both form, cytosolic formand N-terminal extend mitochondrial form. Interleukin-15 (IL-15) has a broad spectrum of biological activities. It is crucial for the development, proliferation, survival and differentiation of multiple cells from both innate and adaptive immune systems. IL-15 up-regulation has a central role in the development of several autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disorders. Targeting IL-15 or its receptor may have a valuable impact on the treatment of immune-mediated diseases. IL-15 participates in the development of important immune antitumour mechanisms. It activates CD8(+) T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, NK T cells, and can promote the formation of antitumour antibodies. IL-15 can also protect T effector cells from the action of T regulatory cells and reverse tolerance to tumour-associated antigens. In pre-clinical studies IL-15 has been found to demonstrate potentiated antitumour effects following pre-association with IL-15Ralpha, or when used in combination with chemotherapy, adoptive therapy, monoclonal antibodies, and tumour vaccines. Application: Useful for immunofluorescent staining and flow cytometric analysis to identify and enumerate IL-15Ralpha expressing cells within mixed cell populations.
