Description:
Plays a role as a key modulator of the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway controlling the tempo of the process of newborn neurons integration during adult neurogenesis, including correct neuron positioning, dendritic development and synapse formation. Enhances phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)-dependent phosphorylation and kinase activity of AKT1/PKB, but does not possess kinase activity itself. Phosphorylation of AKT1/PKB thereby induces the phosphorylation of downstream effectors GSK3 and FOXO1/FKHR, and regulates DNA replication and cell proliferation (By similarity). Essential for the integrity of the actin cytoskeleton and for cell migration. Required for formation of actin stress fibers and lamellipodia. May be involved in membrane sorting in the early endosome.

Description:
Required for genome-wide de novo methylation and is essential for the establishment of DNA methylation patterns during development. DNA methylation is coordinated with methylation of histones. May preferentially methylates nucleosomal DNA within the nucleosome core region. May function as transcriptional co-repressor by associating with CBX4 and independently of DNA methylation. Seems to be involved in gene silencing (By similarity). In association with DNMT1 and via the recruitment of CTCFL/BORIS, involved in activation of BAG1 gene expression by modulating dimethylation of promoter histone H3 at H3K4 and H3K9. Isoforms 4 and 5 are probably not functional due to the deletion of two conserved methyltransferase motifs. Function as transcriptional corepressor by associating with ZHX1.

Description:
This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor(EGF) repeat superfamily. Members of this superfamily arecharacterized by the presence of EGF-like repeats and are ofteninvolved in the regulation of cell cycle, proliferation, anddevelopmental processes. The gene product contains a signalpeptide, suggesting that it is secreted; an EGF repeat regionconsisting of 4 complete EGF-like repeats and 1 partial EGF-likerepeat, 3 of which have a calcium-binding consensus sequence; anarg-gly-asp integrin association motif; and a MAM domain, which isbelieved to have an adhesive function. This gene is expressed earlyduring development, and its expression has been detected in lungand meningioma tumors. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:
This MAb reacts with human Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). It is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, which plays a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are highly conserved from Drosophila to humans and share structural and functional similarities. They recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) that are expressed on infectious agents, and mediate the production of cytokines necessary for the development of effective immunity. The various TLRs exhibit different patterns of expression. This gene is expressed most abundantly in peripheral blood leukocytes, and mediates host response to Gram-positive bacteria and yeast via stimulation of NF-kappaB.

Description:
Recognizes a phosphor-protein of 45 kDa, identified as MyoD1. The epitope of this MAb maps between amino acid 180-189 in the C-terminal of mouse MyoD1 protein. It does not cross react with myogenin, Myf5, or Myf6. Antibody to MyoD1 labels the nuclei of myoblasts in developing muscle tissues. MyoD1 is not detected in normal adult tissue, but is highly expressed in the tumor cell nuclei of rhabdomyosarcomas. Occasionally nuclear expression of MyoD1 is seen in ectomesenchymoma and a subset of Wilm s tumors. Weak cytoplasmic staining is observed in several non-muscle tissues, including glandular epithelium and also in rhabdomyosarcomas, neuroblastomas, Ewing s sarcomas and alveolar soft part sarcomas.

Description:
During fertilization in mammals, the sperm activates the egg by causing an increase in the level of free cytoplasmic calcium concentration. This increased calcium concentration induces a characteristic series of oscillations that trigger egg activation and early embryo development. A hamster protein named oscillin is thought to be involved in this pathway. The enzyme glucosamine-6-phosphate isomerase (GNPI) or deaminase (GNPDA1) and the related protein GNPDA2 are the human homologs of hamster oscillin. GNPDA1 and GNPDA2 catalyze the conversion of GNP to fructose-6-phosphate and ammonia. Both proteins exist as homohexamers and are ubiquitously expressed with highest expression in testis, ovary and heart. Three isoforms of GNPDA2 are expressed due to alternative splicing events.

Retinoic acid induced 1 (RAI1) is a 1,906 amino acid protein containing an N-terminal polyglutamine stretch that is expressed in most tissues, with highest expression in neuronal tissues. RAI1 functions as a transcriptional regulator and is important for embryonic and postnatal developments. Heterozygous deletions of the RAI1 gene are associated with Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS), a mental retardation syndrome with behavioral, neurological and skeletal anomalies. Individuals affected with SMS usually display self-injurious behaviors, sleep disturbance, developmental delay and reduced motor and cognitive skills. RAI1 haploinsufficiency is specifically responsible for the obesity and craniofacial symptoms of SMS. RAI1 mutations have also been implicated in schizophrenia and spinocerebellar ataxia type 2.

Description:
Fibulin-7 is a 439 amino acid extracellular matrix protein that belongs to the Fibulin family. Containing two EGF-like domains and one sushi (CCP/SCR) domain, Fibulin-7 exists as four alternatively spliced isoforms. Fibulin-7 is considered an adhesion protein that interacts with extracellular matrix molecules in developing teeth, and may be involved in differentiation and maintenance of odontoblasts as well as in dentin formation. Fibulin-7 is post-translationally glycosylated with N-linked oligosaccharides and interacts with heparin, fibronectin, fibulin-1 and DSP (dentin sialophosphoprotein). Fibulin-7 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 2, which consists of 237 million bases, encodes over 1,400 genes and makes up approximately 8% of the human genome.

Description:
FNDC3A is a 1,134 amino acid protein that belongs to the FNDC3 family of proteins. FNDC3A contains an N-terminal proline-rich region, nine fibronectin type-III domains (none of which contain an RGD sequence) and a hydrophobic C-terminal transmembranous helix. Expressed in a wide variety of tissues, FNDC3A localizes to Golgi vesicles and to the developing acrosome of spermatids. FNDC3A is believed to function in glycosaminoglycan and collagen synthesis. In mice, a mutation in the gene encoding FNDC3A causes male sterility due to defective adhesion between Sertoli cells and spermatids in the seminiferous epithelium. This suggests that FNDC3A plays an important role in spermatogenesis, possibly mediating or maintaining the adhesion between Sertoli cells and spermatids.

Description:
CRP2 is a 193 amino acid nuclear protein that belongs to the CRP family of LIM domain proteins. Highly expressed in smooth muscle of aorta, CRP2 is thought to have a role in embryonic vascular system development and is downregulated following cell injury or PDGF-B exposure. CRP2 contains two LIM zinc-binding domains and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 12, which encodes over 1100 genes and comprises approximately 4.5% of the human genome. Chromosome 12 is associated with a variety of diseases and afflictions, including hypochondrogenesis, achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia, Noonan syndrome and trisomy 12p, which causes facial developmental defects and seizure disorders.
