Description:
Tau proteins are important Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both. Axonal polarity is predetermined by tau localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilisation. Tau proteins subcellular located in the axons of neurons, in the cytoso l and in association with plasma membrane components. It expressed in neurons. PNS-tau is expressed in the peripheral nervous system while the others are expressed in the central nervous system.

Description:
The regulated translation of messenger RNA is essential for cell-cycle progression, establishment of the body plan during early development and modulation of key activities in the central nervous system. Cytoplasmic polyadenylation, one mechanism of controlling translation, is driven by cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding proteins, called CPEBs. CPEB3 (cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 3) is a 698 amino acid protein that contains two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains and, like other CPEB proteins, may play a role in the maturation of the central nervous system. CPEB3 exists as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms that are encoded by a gene which maps to human chromosome 10, which houses over 1200 genes and comprises nearly 4.5% of the human genome.

Description:
LTβR is involved in peripheral lymphoid tissue organogenesis and function. The LTα/LTβR receptor system may also have some function in early embryogenesis. LTβR is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and member of the TNF receptor superfamily. It is a 61kDa receptor for the mouse LTα1β2 and LIGHT. Northern blot analysis of tissues from adult mice showed that expression levels of LTβR mRNA were strong in lung, liver, and kidney, moderate in heart and testes, but weak in brain, thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes. It was reported that LTβR is expressed on stromal cells, monocytes, and certain embryonic epithelial layers. LTβR is involved in peripheral lymphoid tissue organogenesis and function. The LTα/LTβR receptor system may also have some function in early embryogenesis.

Description:
The glycine cleavage system is comprised of AMT (known as Protein T), GCSH (known as Protein H), DLD (known as Protein L) and GLDC (known as Protein P), all of which work together to catalyze the cleavage and degradation of glycine. GLDC (glycine dehydrogenase ), also known as GCE, GCSP (glycine cleavage system P protein) or HYGN1, is a 1,020 amino acid protein that localizes to the mitochondria and belongs to the gcvP family. GLDC binds to glycine and enables the methylamine group from glycine to be transferred to the Protein T. GLDC exists as a homodimer and utilizes pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor. Mutations in the gene encoding GLDC leads to nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), also known as glycine encephalopathy (GCE), an autosomal recessive disease characterized by accumulation of a large amount of glycine in body fluid and by severe neurological symptoms.
