AP2 factors bind to the consensus sequence 5'-GCCNNNGGC-3' and activate genes involved in a large spectrum of important biological functions including proper eye, face, body wall, limbs and neural tube development. They also suppress a number of genes including MCAM/MUC18, C/EBP alpha and MYC. TIMP3 (tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 3), along with family members TIMP1, TIMP2, and TIMP4, are inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix (ECM). An imbalance between MMPs and the associated TIMPs may play a significant role in the invasive phenotype of malignant tumors. TIMP s inhibit the proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells. TIMP-3 may be involved in regulating trophoblastic invasion of the uterus as well as in regulating remodeling of the extracellular matrix during the folding of epithelia, and in the formation, branching and expansion of epithelial tubes.

La procédure de détermination des fibres alimentaires expose l'échantillon à une série de digestions enzymatiques qui simulent le processus de digestion réel ayant lieu dans le système digestif humain ou animal, en calculant les résidus non digérés restant à la fin de l'analyse. L'analyse des fibres alimentaires est généralement effectuée sur les aliments destinés à être consommés par les humains, tandis que l'analyse des fibres naturelles est effectuée sur les aliments pour animaux ou sur les matières premières d'origine végétale, comme les céréales. Le système GDE procède à une digestion enzymatique, une phase délicate lors de laquelle les échantillons sont immergés dans un bain d'eau thermostatique et agités. Le mélange d'échantillons constant et continu est nécessaire pour éviter la surchauffe de l'échantillon. L'unité se compose d'un thermostat d'immersion, d'une cuve en polycarbonate transparent et d'un agitateur magnétique VELP à 6 emplacements, afin de garantir une excellente thermorégulation et une précision optimale. L'utilisation d'eau désionisée est recommandée, car elle permet d'éliminer toutes les causes éventuelles de dépôt de calcaire.
