Cytochrome c oxidase (COX), the terminal component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, catalyzes the electron transfer from reduced cytochrome c to oxygen. COX10 is heme A: farnesyltransferase, which is not a structural subunit but required for the expression of functional COX and functions in the maturation of the heme A prosthetic group of COX. This protein is predicted to contain 7-9 transmembrane domains localized in the mitochondrial inner membrane. A gene mutation, which results in the substitution of a lysine for an asparagine (N204K), is identified to be responsible for cytochrome c oxidase deficiency. HEAB is a 425 amino acid nuclear protein that belongs to the Clp1 family. Utilising magnesium, manganese or nickel as cofactors, HEAB participates in the phosphorylation of the 5'-hydroxyl groups of double- and single- stranded RNA and DNA. HEAB is a member of the tRNA splicing endonuclease complex, in conjunction with TSEN2, TSEN15, TSEN34 and TSEN54, and is also a member of the pre-mRNA cleavage complex II. The gene encoding HEAB maps to human chromosome 11q12.1 and mouse chromosome 2 D; mutations to this gene may lead to a reduced pre-mRNA cleavage activity. HEAB exists as two isoforms due to alternative splicing events.

C4orf12 (chromosome 4 open reading frame 12) is a 926 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that exists as two isoforms. The gene encoding C4orf21 maps to human chromosome 4. Human chromosome 4 represents approximately 6% of the human genome and contains nearly 900 genes. Notably, the Huntingtin gene, which is found to encode an expanded glutamine tract in cases of Huntington's disease, is on chromosome 4. FGFR-3 is also encoded by a gene that is located on chromosome 4, and has been associated with thanatophoric dwarfism, achondroplasia, Muenke syndrome and bladder cancer. Chromosome 4 is also tied to Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia and polycystic kidney disease.

Description:
Anabaenopeptins are a highly diverse group of bioactive peptides produced by several genera of cyanobacteria such as Anabaena, Planktothrix, Microcystis and Nodularia. These peptides are commonly detected in cyanobacterial blooms along with the well known microcystins. Unique cyclic peptides where lysine is conserved in position 2 and cyclisation is achieved by linkage of the lysine to the C-terminal amino acid. In addition the side chain of a single amino acid is attached via a ureido bond. Bioactive peptides originally isolated from Anabaena flos-aquae NRC 525-17 where they were shown to be non-toxic in mice but had dose dependant relaxations in rat aortic preparations with endothelium precontracted with 0.1µM norpinephrine.
Anabaenopeptins inhibit protein phosphatase.
