Description:
Low affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor II (CD32B) is a single-pass type I membrane protein and contains 2 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains. The inhibitory CD32B is expressed on B cells and myeloid dendritic cells. Ligation of CD32B on B cells downregulates antibody production and may, in some circumstances, promote apoptosis. Co-ligation of CD32B on dendritic cells inhibits maturation and blocks cell activation. CD32B may also be a target formonoclonal antibody therapy for malignancies.

This gene encodes a nuclear phosphoprotein that plays a role in maintaining genomic stability, and it also acts as a tumor suppressor. The encoded protein combines with other tumor suppressors, DNA damage sensors, and signal transducers to form a large multi-subunit protein complex known as the BRCA1-associated genome surveillance complex (BASC). This gene product associates with RNA polymerase II, and through the C-terminal domain, also interacts with histone deacetylase complexes. This protein thus plays a role in transcription, DNA repair of double-stranded breaks, and recombination. Mutations in this gene are responsible for approximately 40% of inherited breast cancers and more than 80% of inherited breast and ovarian cancers. Alternative splicing plays a role in modulating the subcellular localization and physiological function of this gene. Many alternatively spliced transcript variants, some of which are disease-associated mutations, have been described for this gene, but the full-length natures of only some of these variants has been described. Mucin-15 is a single-pass type I membrane protein member of the Mucin family. Mucins are a family of high molecular weight, heavily glycosylated proteins (glycoconjugates) produced by epithelial tissues in most metazoans. A key characteristic of Mucins is their ability to form gels. Therefore they are a key component in most gel-like secretions, serving functions from lubrication to cell signalling to forming chemical barriers. Mucin-15 is expressed in many tissues. Mucin-15 is highly glycosylated (N- and O-linked carbohydrates). Mucin-15 may play a role in the cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix.

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to the CD4 receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). CD4 is a 59 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein that expressed on the surface of most of the thymocytes, T-helper cells, and in low levels on monocytes and macrophages. CD4 is a co-receptor in the antigen-induced T cell activation (together with the MHC class II). The OKT4 and the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibodies recognize different epitopes of CD4 and they do not exhibit cross-block binding.

High Mobility Group Protein B2 (HMGB2) belongs to the non-histone chromosomal high-mobility group protein family. Members of this family are chromatin-associated and widely spread in the nucleus of higher eukaryotic cells. HMGB2 contains 2 HMG box DNA-binding domains. It is associated with chromatin and has the ability to bend DNA, preferentially single-stranded DNA. It is shown that HMGB2 is able to efficiently bend DNA and form DNA circles. In addition, HMGB2 is involved in the final ligation step in DNA end-joining processes of DNA double-strand breaks repair and V(D)J recombination.

CD300C is a single-pass type I membrane protein which belongs to the immunoregulatory signaling (IRS) family. CD300C contains one Ig-like V-type domain and is present on the surface of natural killer cells, granulocytes, most myeloid cells, dendritic cells, and a subpopulation of T and B lymphocytes. The CD300C (CMRF-35A) and CD300A (CMRF-35H) molecules are homologous leukocyte surface proteins. CD300a and CD300C play an important role in the cross-regulation of TNF-alpha and IFN-alpha secretion from pDCs. CD300A and CD300C are indistinguishable on the surface of NK cells. The ligand for CD300C is presently unknown.
