Description:   The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. This protein is a catalytic subunit of the highly conserved protein kinase complex known as M-phase promoting factor (MPF), which is essential for G1/S and G2/M phase transitions of eukaryotic cell cycle. Mitotic cyclins stably associate with this protein and function as regulatory subunits. The kinase activity of this protein is controlled by cyclin accumulation and destruction through the cell cycle. The phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of this protein also play important regulatory roles in cell cycle control. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].

Description:   Ribonucleotide reductase is essential for the production and maintenance of the level of deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) required for DNA synthesis. It is an enzymatic complex consisting of two nonidentical subunits, R1 and R2, which are inactive separately. R2, the smaller subunit, is localized to the cytoplasm. R2 is the limiting factor of the catalytic activity of the ribonucleotide reductase enzymatic complex. R2 expression is strictly correlated to the S-phase of the cell cycle, whereas R1 remains constant throughout all phases of the cell cycle. While R2 seems to be involved solely in the maintenance of dNTPs for DNA replication, a similar protein, p53R2, has been shown to be responsible for the production of dNTPs in response to DNA damage.

Description:   Fluorinert™ belongs to the group of aliphatic compounds. It is considered as a pressure-transmitting medium because it is highly inert. Fluorinert™ Electronic Liquid FC-770 is a thermally stable, fully-fluorinated liquid that has ideal properties for use as a heat transfer fluid in a variety of industries. The inertness of Fluorinert™ FC-770 permits its use as a direct contact single and two-phase coolant in certain supercomputers and sensitive military electronics. Its high dielectric strength and electrical resistivity are ideal for applications in high voltage transformers and power electronics. In the semiconductor manufacturing industry, its wide liquid range makes Fluorinert™ liquid FC-770 suited for cooling ion implanters, dry etchers and CVD machines. Its low pour point also permits its use in thermal shock and test equipment.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase (CDK) family. CDK family members are highly similar to the gene products of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cdc28, and Schizosaccharomyces pombe cdc2, and are known to be important regulators of cell cycle progression. This kinase is a catalytic subunit of the protein kinase complex that is important for cell cycle G1 phase progression and G1/S transition. The activity of this kinase first appears in mid-G1 phase, which is controlled by the regulatory subunits including D-type cyclins and members of INK4 family of CDK inhibitors.

Description:   Required for checkpoint mediated cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage within both the S phase and G2/M phases of the cell cycle. May serve as a scaffold for the recruitment of DNA repair and signal transduction proteins to discrete foci of DNA damage marked by 'Ser-139' phosphorylation of histone H2AFX. Also required for downstream events subsequent to the recruitment of these proteins. These include phosphorylation and activation of the ATM, CHEK1 and CHEK2 kinases, and stabilization of TP53 and apoptosis. ATM and CHEK2 may also be activated independently by a parallel pathway mediated by TP53BP1.

Description:   APPBP1 is a member of the ubiquitin-activating E1 family. In fetal tissues APPBP1 is widely expressed and in adult tissues it is expressed throughout the brain. APPBP1 is a cell membrane associated protein and functions as the regulatory subunit in a heterodimer with UBA3. The APPBP1/UBA3 complex binds to and activates NEDD8, a ubiquitin-like protein involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation and development. This suggests that APPBP1 affects a variety of cellular functions. In addition, APPBP1 is essential for cell cycle progression through the S/M checkpoint. More specifically, it inhibits the entry into S phase and promotes entry into M phase.
