Description:
Reacts with a protein of ~66 kDa, identified as bovine serum albumin (BSA). It is a high affinity antibody and can be used for detection of traces of BSA. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is an abundant plasma protein in cows that is important for maintaining osmotic pressure in blood plasma for proper distribution of body fluids between intravascular compartments and body tissues. BSA is a common buffer component for immunoglobulin type assays due to good solubility characteristics for water, Ca2 , Na , K , fatty acids, hormones and bilirubin. BSA makes up about half of the protein in plasma and represents the most stable and soluble protein in the plasma. It is a suitable reagent for laboratories developing immunoassays, mostly due to its availability, solubility and the numerous functional groups present for coupling. The BSA component contains several lysines that are capable of reacting with conjugation sites of linkers, making it applicable as a carrier protein for antigenic compounds.

Description:
PKA (or cAPK) is a cyclic AMP dependent protein kinase. When activated by the second messenger cAMP, PKA mediates diverse cellular mechanisms, including proliferation, ion transport, regulation of metabolism, plus gene transcription. PKA is comprised of two dimers of two subunits, R (regulatory) and C (catalytic). Two families of R subunit (RI and RII) and three C subunit isoforms (C alpha, C beta, and C gamma) have been identified each possessing distinct cAMP binding properties and resulting in different phosphorylation states. C subunit is activated through autophosphorylation and direct phosphorylation at Thr197 by PDK-1. Tissue specific expression of C gamma, indicates pressure on C gamma during evolution, acting to modulate it in a functionally specific way. Certain amino acid substitutions make C gamma a distinct member of the cAMP dependent subfamily of protein kinases, and suggest that C gamma may be distinct in its protein substrate specificity or its interaction with the different regulatory subunits.

Arginine vasopressin (AVP) is a nonapeptide hormone produced in magnocellular neurons of the hypothalamus, which functions as an antidiuretic in the kidney and systemically as a regulator of vasoconstriction, blood volume, and blood pressure. AVP acts by binding to a set of specific seven transmembrane domain-containing G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR) classified into three groups: V1a (V1), V1b (V3), and V2. V1b receptors stimulate adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) release in the anterior pituitary, but may also participate in corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) release by the hypothalamus. The V1b receptor signals through coupling of Gq/11 alpha subunits, activating phospholipase C and release of intracellular Ca2+ via phosphoinositide second messengers. V1b receptor overexpression is a common marker for ACTH-secreting corticotropic adenomas. V2 receptors in the collecting ducts of the kidneys stimulate adenylyl cyclase activity, regulating the reabsorption of water via aquaporin channels.
