Binding to cells via a high affinity receptor, laminin is thought to mediate the attachment, migration and organisation of cells into tissues during embryonic development by interacting with other extracellular matrix components. This gene is a member of the vesicle-associated membrane protein (VAMP)/synaptobrevin family. Because of its high homology to other known VAMPs, its broad tissue distribution, and its subcellular localization, the protein encoded by this gene was shown to be the human equivalent of the rodent cellubrevin. GITR is primarily found on T cells, and its function may vary depending on the T cell type where it is expressed.
