Description:
TRITC (Tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanate) is a popular rhodamine derivative pink in colour but emits a red-orange colour upon Emission at 580 nm. TRITC is frequently paired with FITC in double labeling experiments and conjugated antibodies are often used in immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, FLISA (fluorescent ELISA) and high throughput screening assays. These conjugates are best excited with the 532 nm spectral line of the He-Ne laser and are also recommended as a second colour detection reagent in in situ hybridisation applications. TOX3 appears to be associated with breast cancer susceptibility and is expressed downstream of a cytoprotective cascade together with CITED1, a transcriptional regulator that does not bind directly to DNA. TOX3 is predominantly expressed in the brain and forms homodimers. TOX3 overexpression protects neuronal cells from cell death caused by endoplasmic reticulum stress or BAX overexpression through the induction of anti-apoptotic transcripts and repression of pro-apoptotic transcripts.

Since CD86 has rapid kinetics of induction, it is believed to be the major CD28 ligand expressed early in the immune response. Their role has been implicated in multiple cellular processes including signal transduction, transcriptional regulation, cell cycle control and apoptosis. NRIP is a novel 860a.a nuclear protein consisting of seven conserved WD40 domains and one NLS motif. It binds to androgen and glucocorticoid receptors and up-regulates their transcriptional activity, thereby functioning as a nuclear receptor co-activator. Role of NRIP has been implicated in cell growth and also in cervical and prostrate cancer, thus indicating a potential therapeutic intervention. Northern Blot analysis detects a high expression of NRIP in skeletal muscle and testis and low expression in heart, prostrate and adrenal gland.

The sense of taste is essential for the survival of organisms. For example, the ability to identify sweet-tasting foods enables animals to seek out food with high nutritive value, whereas the ability to identify bitter substances enables them to avoid the ingestion of potentially harmful substances. A family of integral membrane proteins are involved in taste perception and include T1R, which is involved in sweet taste perception and T2R, which is involved in bitter taste perception. Both types of taste receptors couple to various G proteins to initiate signal transduction cascades. Specifically, T2R38 is expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue and exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. Variations in T2R38 are associated with the ability to taste the bitter chemical phenylthiocarbamide (PTC), also called thiourea tasting.
