Description:
Play a role in cell growth and apoptosis: loss of expression promotes cell growth and resistance to DNA damage stress. Has tumor suppressor properties that enhances the apoptotic responsiveness in cancer cells; this effect is additive to the tumor suppressor activity of FHIT. it is also a negative regulator of primary T-cells. Has apparently no omega-amidase activity such as NIT2.

Claudin 1-8 proteins are a family of transmembrane proteins associated with tight junctions. Tight junctions are specialized regions of cell to cell contact made up of network of strands that act as a molecular gasket for preventing the leakage of ions, water etc. between cells. They are abundant in luminal epithelial sheets where they maintain epithelial cell polarity. Different tissues exhibit different Claudin composition.

Description:
The RPA-T8 antibody is specific for the 32-34 kDa alpha chain of human CD8, known as CD8a or CD8 alpha. CD8a can form a homodimer (CD8 alpha-alpha), but is more commonly expressed as a heterodimer with a second chain known as CD8b or CD8 beta. CD8 acts as a co-receptor for antigen recognition and subsequent T cell activation that is initiated upon binding of the T cell receptor (TCR) to antigen-bearing MHC Class I molecules. The cytoplasmic domains of CD8 provide binding sites for the tyrosine kinase lck, facilitating intracellular signaling events that lead to T cell activation, development, and cytotoxic effector functions. CD8+ cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) play an important role in inducing cell death of tumor cells, as well as cells infected by virus, bacteria or parasites.

Description:
Musashi1 (Msi1) is an RNA-binding protein expressed in neural progenitor cells and neural stem cells. Msi1 is the mammalian homolog of Drosophila Musashi. The gene encoding human Msi1 encodes a 362 amino acid protein. In murine embryonic neural progenitor cells, Msi1 localizes to the cytoplasm and is downregulated during differentiation. Msi1 binds to NUMB, which encodes a membrane-associated antagonist of Notch signaling. Msi1 appears to function in the proliferation and maintenance of stem cell populations of the central nervous system. In addition to its usefulness as a marker for neural progenitor cells in normal human brains, Msi1 is also a marker for human gliomas. In rats, Msi1 is expressed in Sertoli cells of the testis and granulosa cells of the ovary.

The A20 antibody reacts with mouse CD45.1, also known as Ly5.1, which is a strain-specific allelic form of the CD45 Leukocyte Common Antigen (LCA). Functionally, CD45 is a protein tyrosine phosphatase whose broad cell distribution supports a critical role in many leukocyte functions, including regulation of signal transduction and cell activation associated with the T cell and B cell receptors.

Description:
Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules, and protocadherins constitute a subfamily of nonclassic cadherins. Protocadherin beta 13 is a member of the protocadherin beta gene cluster, one of three related gene clusters tandemly linked on chromosome five. The gene clusters demonstrate an unusual genomic organization similar to that of B-cell and T-cell receptor gene clusters. The beta cluster contains 16 genes and 3 pseudogenes, each encoding 6 extracellular cadherin domains and a cytoplasmic tail that deviates from others in the cadherin superfamily. The extracellular domains interact in a homophilic manner to specify differential cell-cell connections. Unlike the alpha and gamma clusters, the transcripts from these genes are made up of only one large exon, not sharing common 3' exons as expected. These neural cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins are integral plasma membrane proteins. Their specific functions are unknown but they most likely play a critical role in the establishment and function of specific cell-cell neural connections.

Description:
Microtubule motor protein that binds to microtubules with high affinity through each tubulin heterodimer and has an ATPase activity (By similarity). Plays a role in many processes like cell division, cytokinesis and also in cell proliferation and apoptosis (PubMed:24784001, PubMed:16648480). During cytokinesis, targets to central spindle and midbody through its interaction with PRC1 and CIT respectively (PubMed:16431929). Regulates cell growth through regulation of cell cycle progression and cytokinesis (PubMed:24854087). During cell cycle progression acts through SCF-dependent proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process which controls CDKN1B degradation, resulting in positive regulation of cyclins, including CCNE1, CCND1 and CCNB1 (PubMed:24854087). During late neurogenesis, regulates the cerebellar, cerebral cortex and olfactory bulb development through regulation of apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell division (By similarity). Also is required for chromosome congression and alignment during mitotic cell cycle process (PubMed:15843429). Regulates cell spreading, focal adhesion dynamics, and cell migration through its interaction with RADIL resulting in regulation of RAP1A-mediated inside-out integrin activation by tethering RADIL on microtubules (PubMed:23209302).

Description:
Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), also known as cachectin, is a 17.5 kDa 157 amino acid member of the TNF superfamily of cytokines that is a potent lymphoid factor with effects on a wide range of target cells. Active TNFalpha is produced in both soluble and membrane-anchored trimers by macrophages, NK cells, and T- and B-lymphocytes. TNF exerts proinflammatory signals via binding and inducing trimerization of TNF-receptor1 (TNF-R1) expressed on most normal and transformed cells, or to TNF-receptor 2 (TNF-R2), expressed on endothelial and most immune cells. TNF signaling regulates hematopeiesis, differentation, endothelial cell activation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, tumor progression, and immune suveillance, and dysregulation of TNF or its receptors is implicated in numerous disease states including cancer, osteoporosis, autoimmune disease, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.

Description:
CD11b is a cell adhesion molecule that acts as a receptor for cell surface ligands such as intracellular adhesion molecules (ICAMs) or soluble ligands. Integrins are heterodimeric proteins that contain an a chain and b chain. Integrin αM combines with the Integrin β2 to form a leukocyte-specific integrin referred to as macrophage receptor 1 (Mac-1), or inactivated-C3b (iC3b) receptor 3 (CR3). Integrin αM/β2 is important in the adherence of neutrophils and monocytes to stimulated endothelium, and also in the phagocytosis of complement coated particles. The protein CD11b has been implicated in the various adhesion-related interactions of cells such as monocytes, macrophages, natural killer (NK) cells, and granulocytes. It is part of a heterodimer that consists of CD11b and CD18. It also modulates the uptake of complement-coated particles within the cell. It is commonly used as a microglial marker in tissues derived from the nervous system.

The C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily consists of a variety of proteins that share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, including cell-cell signaling, cell adhesion, glycoprotein turnover and immune responses. CLEC-9A (C-type lectin domain family 9 member A), also known as DNGR1 (dendritic cell natural killer lectin group receptor 1), is a 241 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein that contains one C-type lectin domain and belongs to the CTL/CTLD superfamily. Expressed in myeloid lineage cells, brain, spleen and thymus, CLEC-9A is a group V C-type lectin-like receptor (CTLR) that acts as an activation receptor. The gene encoding CLEC-9A maps to human chromosome 12p13.2 and mouse chromosome 6 F3.
