Description:   Cyclin dependent kinases are positively regulated by association with cyclins and negatively regulated by binding to inhibitory subunits. The activity of cyclin dependent kinases is also regulated by the phosphorylation status, which is controlled by the antagonistic action of Wee1 kinase and CDC25 phosphatases. Three CDC25 genes are present in human cells: CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C. These three genes function at different phases of the cell cycle. Whereas CDC25A and CDC25B are expressed throughout the cell cycle, with peak expression in G1 for CDC25A and in both G1 S phase and G2 for CDC25B, CDC25C is predominantly expressed in G2.

Description:   Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.

Description:   The ABL1 protooncogene encodes a cytoplasmic and nuclear protein tyrosine kinase that has been implicated in processes of cell differentiation, cell division, cell adhesion, and stress response. Activity of c-Abl protein is negatively regulated by its SH3 domain, and deletion of the SH3 domain turns ABL1 into an oncogene. The t(9;22) translocation results in the head-to-tail fusion of the BCR (MIM:151410) and ABL1 genes present in many cases of chronic myelogeneous leukaemia. The DNA-binding activity of the ubiquitously expressed ABL1 tyrosine kinase is regulated by CDC2-mediated phosphorylation, suggesting a cell cycle function for ABL1. The ABL1 gene is expressed as either a 6- or 7-kb mRNA transcript, with alternatively spliced first exons spliced to the common exons 2-11.

Description:   CD45 is a family of single chain transmembraneous glycoproteins consisting of at least four isoforms (220, 205, 190, 180 kDa) which share a common large intracellular domain. Their extracellular domains are heavily glycosylated. The different isoforms are produced by alternative messenger RNA splicing of three exons of a single gene on chromosome 1. CD45 is expressed on cells of the human hematopoietic lineage (including hematopoietic stem cells) with the exception of mature red cells. It is not detected on differentiated cells of other tissues. It is likely that CD45 plays an important role in signal transduction, inhibition or upregulation of various immunological functions. recognising a common epitope on all of the isoforms are termed CD45 whilst those recognising only individual isoforms are termed CD45RA or CD45RO etc.

Description:   This antibody recognizes a protein of 54 kDa, which is identified as cyclin A. Its epitope is located amino acids 144-148 of human Cyclin A2. Cyclins are regulatory subunits of the cyclin-dependent kinases (cdk's) and they control transition at different specific phases of the cell cycle. The temporal expression of cyclins is tightly regulated and subsequently plays a critical role in controlling the enzymatic activity of cdk's. These cyclin/cdk complexes are essential for passage through specific stages in the cell cycle. In mammalian somatic cells, cyclin A is required for S-phase and passage through G2-phase. The D and E type cyclins regulate the passage of G1, while cyclin B is a critical regulator of mitosis. Mutation or disruption of normal cyclin A expression causes cells to arrest in G2-phase.

Description:   Recognizes a protein of 40 kDa, identified as Thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1). TTF-1 is a member of the NKx2 family of homeodomain transcription factors. It is expressed in epithelial cells of the thyroid gland and the lung. Nuclei from liver, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, colon, kidney, breast, skin, testes, pituitary, prostate, and adrenal glands are unreactive. Anti-TTF-1 is useful in differentiating primary adenocarcinoma of the lung from metastatic carcinomas originating in the breast, mediastinal germ cell tumors, and malignant mesothelioma. It can also be used to differentiate small cell lung carcinoma from lymphoid infiltrates.Loss of TTF-1 expression in non-small cell lung carcinoma has been associated with aggressive behavior of such neoplasms. TTF-1 reactivity is also seen in thyroid malignancies.

Description:   Cell cycle progression is controlled in part by a family of cyclin proteins and cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). Cdk proteins work in concert with the cyclins to phosphorylate key substrates involved in each phase of cell cycle progression. Another family of proteins, Cdk inhibitors, also plays a role in regulating the cell cycle by binding to cyclin-Cdk complexes and modulating their activity. CDKL5 (cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5) is a 1030 amino acid protein that belongs to the CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Expressed in brain, lung, kidney, prostate, ovary, placenta, pancreas and testis, CDKL5 is thought to play a role in cell cycle regulation. Defects in CDKL5 are a cause of several disorders, such as X-linked infantile spasm syndrome and Rett syndrome.

Description:   Gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptors mediate inhibitory neurotransmission in the mammalian central nervous system. The receptor exists as a pentameric ion channel composed by heteromeric combinations of alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, theta, or pi subunits. Only specific subunit combinations produce viable receptors, while others never translocate to the cell surface from the ER where they are synthesised, and subsequently degraded. The theta subunit forms a receptor in combination with alpha3 subunits in monoaminergic cell groups. These receptors, found especially in the septum, preoptic areas, hypothalamic nuclei, amygdala and thalamus, likely have unique pharmacological properties linked to their expression in this particular cell type and not cholinergic cell groups, and may play a role in opiate withdrawal symptoms.
