C-type lectin that functions as cell-surface receptor for a wide variety of ligands such as damaged cells, fungi and mycobacteria. Plays a role in the recognition of pathogenic fungi, such as Candida albicans. The detection of mycobacteria is via trehalose 6,6'-dimycolate (TDM), a cell wall glycolipid. Specifically recognises alpha-mannose residues on pathogenic fungi of the genus Malassezia. Recognises also SAP130, a nuclear protein, that is released by dead or dying cells. Transduces signals through an ITAM-containing adapter protein, Fc receptor gamma chain /FCER1G. Induces secretion of inflammatory cytokines through a pathway that depends on SYK, CARD9 and NF-kappa-B.

TSKS is a 592 amino acid protein that is highly expressed in human testicular tissue. Low levels of TSKS are detectable in prostate, placenta, fetal liver, thymus, and mammary gland tissues. TSKS is found to be downregulated in cancerous testicular tissue from seminoma, teratocarcinoma, embryonal and Leydig cell tumors concurrently with high expression in neighboring premalignant carcinoma. TSKS protein contains an N-terminal signal peptide, but does not contain a transmembrane region. TSKS has many potential phosphorylation and glycosylation sites and is phosphorylated by soluble recombinant TSSK2 in vitro. It is thought that TSKS likely plays a physiological role in spermatogenesis or spermiogenesis.

This antibody recognizes a protein of 40 kDa, identified as cytokeratin-19 (CK19), which is expressed in sweat gland, mammary gland ductal and secretory cells, bile ducts, gastrointestinal tract, bladder urothelium, oral epithelia, esophagus, and ectocervical epithelium. Anti-CK19 reacts with a wide variety of epithelial malignancies including adenocarcinomas of the colon, stomach, pancreas, biliary tract, liver, and breast. Perhaps the most useful application is the identification of thyroid carcinoma of the papillary type, although 50%-60% of follicular carcinomas are also labeled. Anti-CK19 is a useful marker for detection of tumor cells in lymph nodes, peripheral blood, bone marrow and breast cancer.

Description:
BRCC45 was initially suggested to be a housekeeping protein that is highly expressed in brain and reproductive organs. Later experiments indicated BRCC45 forms a complex with the breast and ovarian predisposition proteins BRCA1 and BRCA2 as well as RAD51 and BRCC36. This complex has a ubiquitin E3 ligase activity and is thought to enhance cellular survival following DNA damage. BRCC45 has also been suggested to function as a death receptor associated anti apoptotic protein by inhibiting the BID induced activation of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. Higher levels of BRCC45 were detected in the majority of hepatocellular carcinomas, suggesting that BRCC45 may promote tumorigenesis when overexpressed. At least three isoforms of BRCC45 are known to exist.

Recognizes a phosphor-protein of 45 kDa, identified as MyoD1. The epitope of this MAb maps between amino acid 180-189 in the C-terminal of mouse MyoD1 protein. It does not cross react with myogenin, Myf5, or Myf6. Antibody to MyoD1 labels the nuclei of myoblasts in developing muscle tissues. MyoD1 is not detected in normal adult tissue, but is highly expressed in the tumor cell nuclei of rhabdomyosarcomas. Occasionally nuclear expression of MyoD1 is seen in ectomesenchymoma and a subset of Wilm s tumors. Weak cytoplasmic staining is observed in several non-muscle tissues, including glandular epithelium and also in rhabdomyosarcomas, neuroblastomas, Ewing s sarcomas and alveolar soft part sarcomas.

Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome (DMC), a rare autosomal recessive disorder, is characterized by microcephaly, short trunk dwarfism and sometime psychomotor retardation. Cutaneous cells of affected individuals show dilated rough endoplasmic reticulum and enlarged vacuoles. The Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome protein, also designated dymeclin, may play a role in proteoglycan metabolism and intracellular protein digestion. It is a widely expressed multi-pass membrane protein, detected primarily in chondrocytes and fetal brain tissue. Defects in dymeclin are also the cause of Smith-McCort dysplasis syndrome (SMC), which has characteristics identical to those of Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome.

The PAX5 gene is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. The central feature of this gene family is a novel, highly conserved DNA-binding motif, known as the paired box. The PAX proteins are important regulators in early development, and alterations in the expression of their genes are thought to contribute to neoplastic transformation. The PAX5 gene encodes the B-cell lineage specific activator protein (BSAP) that is expressed at early, but not late stages of B-cell differentiation. Its expression has also been detected in developing CNS and testis, therefore, PAX5 gene product may not only play an important role in B-cell differentiation, but also in neural development and spermatogenesis.
