Description:
This gene encodes a protein that is highly similar to the mouse cGMP-dependent protein kinase anchoring protein 42kDa. The mouse protein has been found to localize with the Golgi and recruit cGMP-dependent protein kinase I alpha to the Golgi in mouse testes. It is thought to play a role in germ cell development. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Description:
Encapsidates the negative strand viral RNA, protecting it from nucleases. The encapsidated genomic RNA is termed the ribonucleoprotein (RNP) and serves as template for transcription and replication. The RNP needs to be localized in the nucleus to start an infectious cycle, but is too large to diffuse through the nuclear pore complex. NP comprises at least 2 nuclear localization signals and is responsible of the active RNP import into the nucleus through the cellular importin alpha/beta pathway. Later in the infection, nucleus export of RNP are mediated through viral proteins NEP interacting with M1 which binds nucleoproteins. It is possible that the nucleoprotein binds directly exportin-1 (XPO1) and plays an active role in RNP nuclear export. M1 interaction with RNP seems to hide nucleoprotein's nuclear localization signals. Soon after a virion infects a new cell, M1 dissociates from the RNP under acidification of the virion driven by M2 protein. Dissociation of M1 from RNP unmask nucleoprotein's nuclear localization signals, targeting the RNP to the nucleus.

Description:
The phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of proteins on serine and threonine residues is an essential means of regulating a broad range of cellular functions in eukaryotes, including cell division, homeostasis and apoptosis. A group of proteins that are intimately involved in this process are the serine/threonine (Ser/Thr) protein kinases. TSSK 6 (testis-specific serine kinase 6), also known as SSTK, TSSK4, FKSG82 or CT72, is a 273 amino acid protein that contains one protein kinase domain and belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Highly expressed in testis with lower expression in ovary, colon, thymus, small intestine and spleen, TSSK 6 catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of proteins involved in sperm production and chromatin remodeling. TSSK 6 uses magnesium as a cofactor and is thought to be required for proper sperm development and function, as well as DNA condensation events. Defects in the gene encoding TSSK 6 are associated with male infertility characterized by low sperm count and decreased sperm motility.

Involved in oxygen transport from the lung to the various peripheral tissues. LVV-hemorphin-7 potentiates the activity of bradykinin, causing a decrease in blood pressure. Spinorphin: functions as an endogenous inhibitor of enkephalin-degrading enzymes such as DPP3, and as a selective antagonist of the P2RX3 receptor which is involved in pain signaling, these properties implicate it as a regulator of pain and inflammation.

Description:
The protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family of proteins are signaling molecules that regulate processes such as cell growth, cell differentiation, oncogenic transformation and the mitotic cycle. PCPTP1, also known as PTPRR (Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase R), ECPTP, PTPBR7 or PTPRQ, is a 657 amino acid protein that functions to sequester inactive mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) to the cytoplasm. Expressed primarily in the brain with weaker expression in other parts of the body, PCPTP1 is a receptor-like molecule that is able to dephosphorylate MAPKs, thereby rendering them inactive. Three isoforms of PCPTP1 exist and are designated alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha form is localized to the cell membrane, while the beta and gamma forms are localized to the perinuclear areas within the cytoplasm.

CAPS2 is a 557 amino acid calcium-binding protein that is abundantly expressed, with highest expression found in placenta, testis, colon, lung and brain. CAPS2 contains three EF-hand domains and exists as three alternatively spliced isoforms. Suggested to play a role in large dense-core vesicle (LDCV) exocytosis, CAPS2 is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 12, which encodes over 1,100 genes and comprises approximately 4.5% of the human genome. Chromosome 12 is associated with a variety of diseases and afflictions, including hypochondrogenesis, achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia, Noonan syndrome and trisomy 12p, which causes facial developmental defects and seizure disorders.

Description:
Vital cellular functions such as cell proliferation and signal transduction are regulated in part by the balance between the activities of protein tyrosine kinases (PTK) and protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). The protein contains a 121 residue extracellular domain, a single transmembrane segment, and 2 tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains. The PTP alpha protein is ubiquitously expressed and may play a fundamental role in the physiology of all cells.

IL2 Receptor beta (CD122) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that forms the high affinity IL2 receptor with CD25 and CD132. This receptor chain, which is also shared by the IL15 receptor, is constitutively expressed by NK cells and at lower levels by T cells, B cells, monocytes, and macrophages. The IL2 Receptor beta chain can combine with either the common gamma subunit (gamma c) alone or the gamma c subunit and the IL2 Receptor alpha subunit to generate intermediate or high affinity IL2 receptor complexes, respectively. CD122 levels can be upregulated by activation stimuli such as IL2.

Description:
RSK3(Ribosomal S6 kinase 3)is a member of a family of 90-kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinases, which includes Rsk1, Rsk2 and Rsk3. These are broadly expressed serine/threonine protein kinases that are activated in response to mitogenic stimuli, including extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases Erk1 and Erk2. Rsk3 is a distinct isoform of p90Rsk that translocates to the cell nucleus, phosphorylates potential nuclear targets and may have a unique upstream activator. Several sites, such as Ser380, Thr359, Ser363 and Thr573, are important for its activation. Active Rsks appear to play a major role in transcriptional regulation by translocating to the nucleus and phosphorylating c Fos and CREB.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the dual specificity protein kinase family, which acts as a mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase kinase. MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), act as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals. This protein kinase lies upstream of MAP kinases and stimulates the enzymatic activity of MAP kinases upon wide variety of extra- and intracellular signals. As an essential component of MAP kinase signal transduction pathway, this kinase is involved in many cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development.
