This gene encodes a member of the glycogenin family. Glycogenin is a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of a short glucose polymer from uridine diphosphate glucose in an autoglucosylation reaction. This reaction is followed by elongation and branching of the polymer, catalyzed by glycogen synthase and branching enzyme, to form glycogen. This gene is expressed in muscle and other tissues. Mutations in this gene result in glycogen storage disease XV. This gene has pseudogenes on chromosomes 1, 8 and 13 respectively. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010].

The Wnt-induced Fzd/LRP6 coreceptor complex recruits DVL1 polymers to the plasma membrane which, in turn, recruits the AXIN1/GSK3B-complex to the cell surface promoting the formation of signalsomes and inhibiting AXIN1/GSK3-mediated phosphorylation and destruction of beta-catenin. Appears be required for postnatal control of vascular regression in the eye. Required for posterior patterning of the epiblast during gastrulation.

Description:
Fe65L is a 758 amino acid protein that contains one WW domain and two PID domains. Binding to the intracellular domain of the ∫-Amyloid precursor protein, Fe65L is thought to modulate the internalization and, therefore, the accessibility and function of ∫-Amyloid. Via its ability to control the intracellular accumulation of ∫-Amyloid, Fe65L is thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Multiple isoforms of Fe65L exist due to alternative splicing events. The gene encoding Fe65L maps to human chromosome 4, which encodes nearly 6% of the human genome and has the largest gene deserts (regions of the genome with no protein encoding genes) of all of the human chromosomes. Defects in some of the genes located on chromosome 4 are associated with Huntington's disease, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia and polycystic kidney disease.

The c Abl proto oncogene encodes a protein tyrosine kinase that is located in the cytoplasm and nucleus. In chronic myelogenous leukaemia and in a subset of acute lymphoblastic leukaemias, the c Abl proto oncogene undergoes a (9;22) chromosomal translocation producing a novel rearranged chromosome (the Philadelphia chromosome) As the result of the fusion of c Abl sequences from chromosome 9 to the Bcr gene on chromosome 22. The molecular consequence of this translocation is the generation of a chimeric Bcr/Abl mRNA encoding activated Abl protein tyrosine kinase.

Fibrillin-2 containing microfibrils regulate the early process of elastic fiber assembly in tissue. Enzymes known as phosphatidylserine decarboxylases (PSDs) catalyze the formation of phosphatidylethanolamine from phosphatidylserine via phosphatidylserine decarboxylation. Type I PSDs contain LGST motifs and are found in bacteria and eukaryotic mitochondria, whereas type II PSDs contain GGST motifs and are found in eukaryotic endomembrane systems. PISD (phosphatidylserine decarboxylase), also known as phosphatidylserine decarboxylase proenzyme, PSDC, PSD, PSSC, DJ858B16, dJ858B16.2 or DKFZp566G2246, is a 408 amino acid a type I phosphatidylserine decarboxylase that localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane. PISD contains a conserved LGST motif which is cleaved to produce two isoforms known as PISD α and PISD β. PISD is capable of forming a heterodimer and is highly expressed in liver and testis. Tect3 is a 607 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the tectonic family and exists as four alternatively spliced isoforms. Tect3 interacts with MKS1 and may be involved in apoptosis regulation. The gene that encodes Tect3 contains approximately 31560 bases and maps to human chromosome 10q24.1. Spanning nearly 135 million base pairs and encoding nearly 1200 genes, chromosome 10 makes up approximately 4.5% of the human genome. Several protein-coding genes, including those that encode chemokines, cadherins, excision repair proteins, early growth response factors (Egrs) and fibroblast growth receptors (FGFRs), are located on chromosome 10. Defects in some of the genes that map to chromosome 10 are associated with Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, Jackson-Weiss syndrome, Usher syndrome, nonsyndromatic deafness, Wolman’s syndrome, Cowden syndrome, Cockayne syndrome, multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 and porphyria.
