Description:
EXTL3 is a member of the EXT (hereditary multiple exostosin) gene family of tumor suppressors encoding glycosyltransferases involved in heparan sulfate (HS) biosynthesis. Within this family, the C-terminus is conserved between all members from C. elegans to vertebrates. EXTL3 is a ubiquitously expressed, developmentally regulated, single-pass type II membrane protein that localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. EXTL3 adds N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) to the polysaccharide-protein linkage region and to the growing HS chain suggesting that it plays a role in both the initiation and elongation of HS chains. In addition, EXTL3 may act as a Reg receptor, binding Reg via its N-terminus.

Description:
Bmf (Bcl-2-modifying factor) belongs to the Bcl-2 protein family. Bcl-2 family members form hetero- or homo-dimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. Bmf contains a single Bcl-2 homology domain 3 (BH3), and has been shown to interact with other Bcl-2 proteins and functions as an apoptotic activator. Two different start sites can give rise to two proteins of 25 or 30 kDa. It is found to be sequestered to myosin V motors by its association with dynein light chain 2 (DLC2), which may be important for sensing intracellular damage and triggering apoptosis.

Description:
Mahogany (MG), originally identified as a protein involved in pigmentation, acts in conjunction with melanocortin receptors to suppress diet-induced obesity. Mahogany contains a single transmembrane domain, and it is expressed in a broad range of tissues, including the hypothalamus and pigment cells. Mutations within the mahogany gene were shown to rescue agouti-lethal-yellow mutant mice from obesity. The extracellular domain of mouse mahogany is the ortholog of the human protein attractin. Attractin (also designated DPPT-L) is a human serum glycoprotein and is a member of the CUB family of cell adhesion and guidance proteins. Attractin is expressed on activated T cells and is released from the cells 48 to 72 hours after activation.

Osteocalcin belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla protein family and constitutes 1 to 2% of the total bone protein. It is a 49 amino acid single chain vitamin K dependent protein, made by osteoblasts, and is a major component of the noncollagenous bone matrix. Post translational modification by a vitamin K dependent carboxylase produces three gamma carboxyglutamic acid residues at positions 17, 21 and 24, giving it a high affinity for calcium. It also binds strongly to apatite.

CEACAM1 (CD66a, BGP) belongs to the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family. It is expressed on cells of epithelial and myeloid origin. Like all members of the CEACAM family, it consists of a single N domain, with structural homology to the immunoglobulin variable domains, followed by two immunoglobulin constant-like A (A1, A2) and one B domain. While N, A1 and B domains can also be found in other CEA-family members, the A2 domain of CEACAM1 differs from those found in other CEACAMs.

Its substrates include collagen and elastin, as well as alpha-1 protease inhibitor, a major controlling element of neutrophil elastase activity. Human cyclophilin A (CyPA), an intracellular protein of 165 amino acids, is the target of cyclosporin A (CsA) and is encoded by a single unique gene conserved from yeast to humans. Cyclophilin B (CyPB) is secreted in biological fluids such as blood or milk and binds to a specific receptor present on the human lymphoblastic cell line Jurkat and on human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Cyclophilin D (CyP40) is a widely expressed cytoplasmic protein that catalyses the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. It is a widely expressed cytoplasmic protein.

Protein kinase C (PKC) zeta is a member of the PKC family of serine/threonine kinases which are involved in a variety of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation and secretion. Unlike the classical PKC isoenzymes which are calcium-dependent, PKC zeta exhibits a kinase activity which is independent of calcium and diacylglycerol but not of phosphatidylserine. Furthermore, it is insensitive to typical PKC inhibitors and cannot be activated by phorbol ester. Unlike the classical PKC isoenzymes, it has only a single zinc finger module. These structural and biochemical properties indicate that the zeta subspecies is related to, but distinct from other isoenzymes of PKC. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Description:
Recognizes a single protein of 33-34 kDa, identified as the prostate specific antigen (PSA). This MAb is highly specific to PSA and stains prostatic secretory and ductal epithelium in both normal and neoplastic tissues. PSA is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease (kallikrein family) exclusively produced by the prostate epithelium, and abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma. It is predominantly complexed to a liver-derived serine protease inhibitor, alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT in prostate cancer than in benign prostate hyperplasia. This MAb makes an excellent pair with MAb 1A7G6B6 for PSA tests.
