Kallistatin is a serine proteinase inhibitor which binds to tissue kallikrein and inhibits its amidolytic and kininogenase activity. Inhibition is achieved by formation of an equimolar, heat- and SDS-stable complex between the inhibitor and the enzyme, and generation of a small C-terminal fragment of the inhibitor due to cleavage at the reactive site by tissue kallikrein. Heparin blocks kallistatin's complex formation with tissue kallikrein and abolishes its inhibitory effect on tissue kallikrein's activity.

The MR1 antibody is specific for mouse CD154, a 39 kD glycoprotein that is primarily expressed on activated T cells. CD154 (CD40 ligand, gp39) binds to CD40 expressed on antigen presenting cells and mediates important costimulatory functions between these cells. Signals generated via cognate interactions between CD154-CD40 on activated T and B cells are required for T-dependent B cell responses. The MR1 antibody is reported to block interaction of CD154 with CD40.

This potassium channel is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterised by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. NOC2L or NIR (Novel INHAT Repressor) is ubiquitously expressed throughout embryonic development and adulthood. MPG (N-methylpurine DNA glycosylase, or 3-methyladenine (3MeA) DNA glycosylase) repairs the 3MeA lethal lesion blocking DNA replication in Escherichia coli. Analysis of human cDNA libraries found a cDNA that would hybridize to human genomic DNA but not to E. coli or yeast DNA. This MPG gene has been mapped to human chromosome 16 by analysis of a panel of DNAs from mouse/human and hamster/human hybrid cell lines.
