Description:
Representing about 2% of human DNA, chromosome 20 consists of approximately 63 million bases and 600 genes. Chromosome 20 contains a region with numerous genes expressed in the epididymis, which are thought important for seminal production, and some viewed as potential targets for male contraception. The PRNP gene encoding the prion protein associated with spongiform encephalopathies, like Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, is found on chromosome 20. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, ring chromosome 20 epilepsy syndrome and Alagille syndrome are also associated with chromosome 20. The C20orf112 gene product has been provisionally designated C20orf112 pending further characterization.

Description:
Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. The secreted isoforms 2 to 6 block apoptosis (in vitro).

Description:
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that acts as a negative regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway by mediating the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of Wnt receptor complex components Frizzled and LRP6. Acts on both canonical and non-canonical Wnt signaling pathway. Acts as a tumor suppressor in the intestinal stem cell zone by inhibiting the Wnt signaling pathway, thereby resticting the size of the intestinal stem cell zone.

Description:
Rsk1 is a member of a family of 90kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinases, which includes Rsk1, Rsk2 and Rsk3. These are broadly expressed serine/threonine protein kinases activated in response to mitogenic stimuli, including extracellular signal regulated protein kinases Erk1 and Erk2. Rsk1 is activated by MAPK in vitro and in vivo via phosphorylation. Active Rsks appear to play a major role in transcriptional regulation by translocating to the nucleus and phosphorylating c Fos and CREB.

RIP2 is a member of the receptor-interacting protein (RIP) family of serine/threonine protein kinases. It contains a C-terminal caspase activation and recruitment domain (CARD), and is a component of signaling complexes in both the innate and adaptive immune pathways. It is a potent activator of NF-kappaB and inducer of apoptosis in response to various stimuli.

Description:
Isoform 1: Regulatory component of cullin-RING-based SCF (SKP1-Cullin-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes.). Inhibits E3 ubiquitin ligase activity by binding to RBX1 (via RING domain) and inhibiting its interaction with the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme CDC34. Inhibits RBX1-mediated neddylation of CUL1. Required for normal stability and normal cellular levels of key components of SCF ubiquitin ligase complexes, including FBXW7, RBX1, CUL1, CUL2, CUL3, CUL4A, and thereby contributes to the regulation of CCNE1 and MYC levels (By similarity). Essential for normal development of the vasculature. Contributes to the regulation of RPS6KB1 phosphorylation

Description:
MEK5 is a dual specificity protein kinase belonging to thr Ser/Thr protein kinase family, (MAP kinase kinase family). It is activated by phosphorylation on Ser/Thr by MAP kinase kinases and interacts specifically with ERK5, and not with another MAP kinase like P38. This kinase specifically interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. This kinase itself can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms (aPKCs). It is not phosphorylated by RAFA, RAFB or RAFC and it may interact with GTPases such as CDC42. The signal cascade mediated by this kinase is involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. MEK5 is expressed in many adult tissues and is most abundant in heart and skeletal muscle.
