Description:
This gene encodes a protein with an N-terminal RCC1 domain and a C-terminal BTB (broad complex, tramtrack and bric-a-brac) domain. In rat, over-expression of this gene in vascular smooth muscle cells induced cellular hypertrophy. In rat, the C-terminus of RCBTB1 interacts with the angiotensin II receptor-1A. In humans, this gene maps to a region of chromosome 13q that is frequently deleted in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and other lymphoid malignancies. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

AHNAK2 contains 1 PDZ (DHR) domain. There are 3 named isoforms of AHNAK2 produced by alternative splicing. AHNAK2 is a 600-kDa protein composed of a large number of highly conserved repeat segments. AHNAKs are a class of giant propeller-like proteins that associate with calcium channel proteins of cardiomyocytes and other cells.

Description:
ARMC3 contains 12 ARM repeats. ARM (Armadillo/beta-catenin-like) domains are imperfect 45-amino acid repeats involved in protein-protein interactions. ARM domain-containing proteins, such as ARMC3, function in signal transduction, development, cell adhesion and mobility, and tumor initiation and metastasis. The specific function of ARMC3 is not yet known.

Description:
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) are thought to be involved in pre-mRNA processing. However, its role in the regulation of gene expression is as yet poorly understood. Proteins of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoparticles (hnRNP) family form a structurally diverse group of RNA binding proteins implicated in various functions. Recently, hnRNP proteins have been shown to hinder communication between factors bound to different splice sites. Conversely, several reports have described a positive role for some hnRNP proteins in pre-mRNA splicing. hnRNP-U, also termed scaffold attachment factor A (SAF-A), binds to pre-mRNA and nuclear matrix/scaffold attachment region DNA elements.

Description:
NOC2L is a transcriptional corepressor with inhibitor of histone acetyltransferase (INHAT) activity. NOC2L or NIR (Novel INHAT Repressor) is ubiquitously expressed throughout embryonic development and adulthood. It is a potent transcriptional corepressor that is not blocked by histone deacetylase inhibitors and is capable of silencing both basal and activator-driven transcription. NOC2L directly binds to nucleosomes and core histones and prevents acetylation by histone acetyltransferases, thus acting as a bona fide INHAT.

Description:
This gene, a member of the cadherin superfamily, encodes one of the receptor tyrosine kinases, which are cell-surface molecules that transduce signals for cell growth and differentiation. This gene plays a crucial role in neural crest development, and it can undergo oncogenic activation in vivo and in vitro by cytogenetic rearrangement. Mutations in this gene are associated with the disorders multiple endocrine neoplasia, type IIA, multiple endocrine neoplasia, type IIB, Hirschsprung disease, and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Additional transcript variants have been described but their biological validity has not been confirmed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:
Calpains are a family of cytosolic calcium activated cysteine proteases involved in a variety of cellular processes including apoptosis, cell division, modulation of integrin and cytoskeletal interactions, and synaptic plasticity. Calpain 12 was first described in the mouse, most strongly in the skin, and maps to mouse chromosome 7. Isoforms differ in the carboxyterminal ends, ending with aberrant domain III and lacking domain IV. Domains in the large subunit include the amino terminal domain I, the proteinase domain II, domain III, and the EF hand domain IV, making Calpain 12 most similar to calpains 1 and 2.
