Description:   The CD28.2 antibody reacts with human CD28, a 44 kDa type I surface glycoprotein which acts as a co-stimulatory receptor in support of the T cell receptor (TCR). CD28 exists as a homodimer with specificity for two known ligands, known as B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86), which are expressed on activated B cells and antigen-presenting cells. These ligands trigger CD28 signaling in concert with TCR activation to drive T cell proliferation, induce high-level expression of IL-2, impart resistance to apoptosis, and enhance T cell cytotoxicity. The interaction/co-stimulatory signaling between the B7 ligands and CD28 provides crucial communication between T cells and B cells or APCs to coordinate the adaptive immune response. Other members of the CD28 family of receptors include CTLA-4 (CD152), PD-1 (CD279), ICOS and BTLA.

Description:   Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) influence cell growth, differentiation, embryogenesis, immune response and cancer metastasis by networking information from the extracellular matrix to the cell. The four major families of cell adhesion molecules are immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily (calcium-independent transmembrane glycoproteins), integrins (transmembrane non-covalently linked heterodimers of Alpha and Beta subunits), calcium-dependent cadherins and divalent cation-dependent selectins. Regulation of neuronal synaptic adhesion by CAMs has proven important for learning and memory. Proper embryonic morphogenic development is also heavily dependent on the regulation of cell adhesion molecules. Neurotrimin (hNT) is a neural cell adhesion molecule localizing to the cell membrane, where it acts as a lipid-anchor. Neurotrimin belongs to the IgLON family of proteins, a member of the larger immunoglobulin superfamily.

Description:   Recognizes a protein of 95 kDa, which is identified as Bcl-6. Antibody to bcl-6 is helpful in a number of diagnostic settings: (1) In the differential diagnosis of small B-cell lymphoma. Follicular lymphoma will show bcl-6 (and CD10) positivity whereas other small B-cell lymphomas are usually negative. (2) Bcl-6 is an important prognostic marker in diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL), where CD10, bcl-6 and MUM1/IRF4 are used to identify germinal center and activated B-cell phenotypes. (3) Bcl-6 can be valuable in distinguishing classical Hodgkin lymphoma from nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL). The Reed-Sternberg cells of classical Hodgkin lymphoma are bcl-6 negative whereas the large (L&H) cells of NLPHL are bcl-6 positive. In contrast, anti-Bcl-6 rarely stains mantle-cell lymphoma and MALT lymphoma.

Description:   Calmodulin consists of two glycoproteins, 34 and 39 kDa, sometimes designated epithelial antigen, epithelial specific antigen, and epithelial glycoprotein. The glycoproteins are located on the cell membrane surface and in the cytoplasm of virtually all epithelial cells with the exception of most squamous epithelia, hepatocytes, renal proximal tubular cells, gastric parietal cells and myoepithelial cells. Epithelial Calmodulin is found in the large majority of adenocarcinomas of most sites (50-100% in various studies; as well as neuroendocrine tumours, including small cell carcinoma. Renal cell carcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma stain in about 30% of the cases. Calmodulin mediates the control of a large number of enzymes and other proteins by Ca(2+). Among the enzymes to be stimulated by the calmodulin Ca(2+) complex are a number of protein kinases and phosphatases. Calmodulin has four functional calcium binding sites.

Description:   Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Acts as a regulator of neural stem cells quiescence by mediating anchorage of neural stem cells to ependymocytes in the adult subependymal zone: upon cleavage by MMP24, CDH2-mediated anchorage is affected, leading to modulate neural stem cell quiescence. CDH2 may be involved in neuronal recognition mechanism. In hippocampal neurons, may regulate dendritic spine density (By similarity).

Description:   RTF1 is the the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in the rat which contains genes that code for two class II histocompatibility antigens. RT1-B is an antigen of the RT1 complex. It is a protein dimer consisting of an alpha and beta glycoprotein chain and is homologous to I-A and I-E genes, respectively, in the H-2 complex of the mouse. MHC Class II antigens are useful in studying T helper cell interaction with class II positive antigen presenting cells (dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages) and offer new possibilities for studying the development of T helper cells since these also stain stromal cells in the thymus.

Description:   Strongly chemotactic for naive (L-selectinhi) CD4 T-cells and for CD8 T-cells and weakly attractive for resting B-cells and memory (L-selectinlo) CD4 T-cells. May play a role in promoting encounters between recirculating T-cells and dendritic cells and in the migration of activated B-cells into the T-zone of secondary lymphoid tissues. Binds to chemokine receptor CCR7. Binds to atypical chemokine receptor ACKR4 and mediates the recruitment of beta-arrestin (ARRB1/2) to ACKR4.

Description:   SLAM, a novel glycoprotein of 37kDa, designated SLAM (Signaling Lymphocyte Activation Molecule) or CDw150, belongs to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily and is involved in T cell stimulation. SLAM is constitutively expressed on peripheral blood memory T cells, T cell clones, immature thymocytes, and a proportion of B cells, and is rapidly induced on naive T cells after activation. Activated B cells express the membrane bound form of SLAM and the soluble and cytoplasmic isoforms of SLAM, and the expression levels of membrane bound SLAM on B cells are rapidly regulated after activation in vitro. It is suggested that signalling through homophilic SLAM-SLAM binding during B to B and B to T cell interactions enhances the expansion and differentiation of activated B cells. Reports suggest that the extracellular domain of CD150 is the receptor for the measles virus and acts as a co-activator on T cells and B cells.
