Description:
Nectin-4 (PVRL4) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein which belongs to the nectin family of Ig superfamily proteins. It contains two Ig-like C2-type domains and one Ig-like V-type domain. PVRL4 seems to be involved in cell adhesion through trans-homophilic and -heterophilic interactions, the latter including specifically interactions with nectin-1. It does not act as receptor for alpha-herpesvirus entry into cells. It is predominantly expressed in placenta, the embryo and breast carcinoma. But it is not detected in normal breast epithelium. The soluble form is produced by proteolytic cleavage at the cell surface (shedding), probably by ADAM17. Mutations in this gene are the cause of ectodermal dysplasia-syndactyly syndrome type 1, an autosomal recessive disorder.

The N418 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with the integrin alpha x chain of the mouse CD11c, which is expressed on dendritic cells, CD4-/CD8+ intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) and some activated T lymphocytes. Low levels of CD11c were detected on mouse splenic natural killer cells and on the monocyte/macrophage lineage cells.CD11c expression is upregulated on IEL and T lymphocytes after activation. It binds to CD54, fibrinogen and iC3b and influences the leukocyte adhesive interactions. The N418 antibody binds to CD11c on splenic dendritic cells of the mouse in the T-dependent areas. It also contributes to the binding of iC3b.

VZV (gE) Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 153 peptides from the envelope glycoprotein E (gE) of Varicella-zoster virus (VZV; strain Dumas), and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 623 on gE. gE is essential for VZV replication (Mo <i>et al.</i>, 2002) and may contribute to viral pathogenesis by facilitating epithelial cell-cell contacts (Mo <i>et al.</i>, 2000). Clostridium Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 326 peptides from tetanus toxin of Clostridium tetani (strain Massachusetts/E88), and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 1315 on tetanus toxin. Tetanus toxin entry into central neurons is mediated by the synaptic vesicle-binding protein SV2 (Yeh <i>et al.</i>), where it selectively cleaves synaptobrevin (Link <i>et al.</i>; Schiavo <i>et al.</i>). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.
