IL-1beta is produced by activated macrophages. IL-1beta stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1beta belongs to the IL-1 family of proteins that are involved in the inflammatory response. IL-1beta in most situations requires the inflammasome complex to be cleaved and secreted.

CD137 (4-1BB) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor family. CD137 is expressed by activated T cells, dendritic cells, NK cells, granulocytes and cells of blood vessel walls at sites of inflammation. CD137 has costimulatory activity for activated T cells. Crosslinking of CD137 enhances T cell proliferation, IL-2 secretion survival and cytolytic activity. CD137 was shown to enhance immune activity to eliminate tumours in mice.

B-cell activating factor belonging to the TNF family receptor (BAFF-R), B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), and transmembrane activator and calcium modulator and cyclophilin ligand interactor (TACI) play critical functions in promoting B-cell survival by engaging the ligands a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL) and/or BAFF. TACI is predominantly expressed on peripheral blood B cells and interacts with the B cell activating factor (BAFF) of ligands and a proliferation inducing ligand (APRIL), which are expressed by numerous cell types, including dendritic cells, macrophages and neutrophils. TNFRSF13B, the gene, which encodes TACI is mutated in nearly 10% of patients with common variable immune deficiency (CVID), an antibody deficiency syndrome characterised by loss of memory B cells and plasma cells.

ApoE, a glycoprotein, is a structural component of very low density lipoprotein (vLDL) Synthesised by the liver and intestinally Synthesised chylomicrons . EpCAM is also known as CO171A,; EGP; EGP40; GA7332; KSA; M4S; MIC18; MK1; TROP1; hEGP2, and is a pan-epithelial differentiation antigen that is expressed on almost all carcinomas as 17-1A(mAb) antigen. Its constitutional function is being elucidated. It is intricately linked with the Cadherin-Catenin pathway and hence the fundamental WNT pathway responsible for intracellular signaling and polarity. The epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) is known to express in most epithelial malignancies and was reported as a tumor marker or a candidate of molecular targeting therapy.
Ep-CAM cross signaling with N-cadherin involves Pi3K, resulting in the abrogation of the cadherin adhesion complexes in epithelial cells was reported. And Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) recently received increased attention as a prognostic factor in breast cancer.

Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF) is a disulfide-linked homodimeric glycoprotein that belongs to the TGF- beta superfamily. It has been shown to promote the survival of various neuronal subpopulations in both the central as well as the peripheral nervous systems at different stages of their development. Human GDNF cDNA encodes a 211 amino acid residue prepropeptide that is processed to yield a dimeric protein. Mature human GDNF was predicted to contain two 134 amino acid residue subunits. Cells known to express GDNF include Sertoli cells, type 1 astrocytes, Schwann cells, neurons, pinealocytes and skeletal muscle cells. Mutations in this gene may be associated with Hirschsprung disease.
