Description:   Dipeptidyl peptidases (DPPs) mediate regulatory activity of their substrates and have been linked to a variety of diseases including type 2 diabetes, obesity and cancer. DPPs have post-proline dipeptidyl aminopeptidase activity, cleaving Xaa-Pro dipeptides from the N-termini of proteins. DPPs can bind specific voltage-gated potassium channels and alter their expression and biophysical properties and may also influence T cells. DPP proteins include DPRP1, DPRP2, DPP3, DPP7, DPP10, DPPX and CD26. DPP10 (dipeptidyl-peptidase 10), also known as DPRP3 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV-related protein 3), DPL2 or DPPY, is a non-functional dipeptidyl peptidase which can bind to the potassium channels KV4.1 and KV4.2. It is a single-pass type II membrane protein expressed in spinal cord, adrenal glands, pancreas and brain tissues and may act as a modulator for cell surface expression and activity of KV4.1 and KV4.2.

Description:   Repair polymerase that plays a key role in base-excision repair. Has 5'-deoxyribose-5-phosphate lyase (dRP lyase) activity that removes the 5' sugar phosphate and also acts as a DNA polymerase that adds one nucleotide to the 3' end of the arising single-nucleotide gap. Conducts 'gap-filling' DNA synthesis in a stepwise distributive fashion rather than in a processive fashion as for other DNA polymerases.

Description:   Initiates the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. Serine protease that circulates in the blood in a zymogen form. Factor VII is converted to factor VIIa by factor Xa, factor XIIa, factor IXa, or thrombin by minor proteolysis. In the presence of tissue factor and calcium ions, factor VIIa then converts factor X to factor Xa by limited proteolysis. Factor VIIa will also convert factor IX to factor IXa in the presence of tissue factor and calcium.

Description:   FKSG14, also known as CENPK (centromere protein K) is a component of the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex. It may be involved in incorporation of CENPA into centromeres and is required for proper kinetochore function, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. May be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres via its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex. Acts in coordination with CASC5/KNL1 to recruit the NDC80 complex to the outer kinetochore. FKSG14 constitutively localized to centromeres throughout the cell cycle. There are 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.

Description:   Senses changes in the extracellular concentration of calcium ions. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.

Description:   Adenosylhomocysteine is a competitive inhibitor of S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyl transferase reactions; therefore adenosylhomocysteinase may play a key role in the control of methylations via regulation of the intracellular concentration of adenosylhomocysteine.

Description:   FAM48A is a 779 amino acid protein that interacts with p38 MAP kinase. Specifically, FAM48A and p38 are required for downregulation of E-cadherin during gastrulation. In adult tissues, FAM48A is highly expressed in testis and moderately expressed in brain and pituitary gland. It is also expressed in several fetal tissues, including lung, brain, thymus and kidney. Expression of FAM48A has been shown to be downregulated in malignant prostate tissues. The gene encoding FAM48A maps to human chromosome 13, which houses over 400 genes and comprises approximately 4% of the human genome. Key tumor suppressor genes on chromosome 13 include the breast cancer susceptibility gene, BRCA2, and the RB1 (retinoblastoma) gene.

Description:   Colipase (CLPS) is a cofactor of pancreatic lipase and is necessary for efficient dietary lipid hydrolysis. It allows the lipase to anchor itself to the surface of lipid micelles, thereby counteracting the inhibitory effect of intestinal bile salts on the lipase.

Description:   Tau proteins are important Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both. Axonal polarity is predetermined by tau localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilization. Tau proteins subcellular located in the axons of neurons, in the cytoso l and in association with plasma membrane components. It expressed in neurons. PNS-tau is expressed in the peripheral nervous system while the others are expressed in the central nervous system.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family, which is a family of mitochondrial flavoenzymes involved in fatty acid and branched chain amino-acid metabolism. This protein is one of the four enzymes that catalyse the initial step of mitochondrial beta-oxidation of straight-chain fatty acid. Defects in this gene are the cause of long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCAD) deficiency, leading to nonketotic hypoglycemia.

Description:   Neurotensin (NT) initiates an intracellular response by interacting with the G protein-coupled receptors NTR1 (NTS1 receptor, high affinity NTR) and NTR2 (NTS2 receptor, levocabastine-sensitive neurotensin receptor), and the type I receptor NTR3 (NTS3 receptor, sortilin-1, Gp95). NT has a wide distribution in regions of the brain and in peripheral tissues where NT receptors can contribute to hypotension, hyperglycemia, hypothermia, antinociception and regulation of intestinal motility and secretion. HL-60 cells express NTR1, which can couple to Gq, Gi/o, or Gs. Alternative splicing of rat NTR2 can generate a 5-transmembrane domain variant isoform that is co-expressed with the full-length NTR2 throughout the brain and spinal cord. NTR3 activation in the murine microglial cell line N11 induces MIP-2, MCP-1, IL-1beta and TNF?in an ERK1/2 and Akt kinase-dependent manner.
