Description:
p18 INK4c is a specific inhibitor of cdk4 / cdk6 (it interacts strongly with CDK6 and weakly with CDK4), and is expressed during G1 to S transition in the eukaryotic cell division cycle. It is maximally induced as cells enter S phase. Highest expression levels are found in skeletal muscle, but it is also found in the pancreas and heart.

Description:
This gene encodes a tumor suppressor protein containing transcriptional activation, DNA binding, and oligomerization domains. The encoded protein responds to diverse cellular stresses to regulate expression of target genes, thereby inducing cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, senescence, DNA repair, or changes in metabolism. Mutations in this gene are associated with a variety of human cancers, including hereditary cancers such as Li-Fraumeni syndrome. Alternative splicing of this gene and the use of alternate promoters result in multiple transcript variants and isoforms. Additional isoforms have also been shown to result from the use of alternate translation initiation codons (PMIDs: 12032546, 20937277). [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2013].

Description:
Receptor for the lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). S1P is a bioactive lysophospholipid that elicits diverse physiological effect on most types of cells and tissues. Is coupled to both the G(i/0)alpha and G(12) subclass of heteromeric G-proteins (By similarity). May play a regulatory role in the transformation of radial glial cells into astrocytes and may affect proliferative activity of these cells.

Description:
WD-repeats are motifs that are found in a variety of proteins and are characterized by a conserved core of 40-60 amino acids that commonly form a tertiary propeller structure. While proteins that contain WD-repeats participate in a wide range of cellular functions, they are generally involved in regulatory mechanisms concerning chromatin assembly, cell cycle control, signal transduction, RNA processing, apoptosis and vesicular trafficking. WDFY1 (WD repeat and FYVE domain containing 1), also known as WDF1, FENS-1 or ZFYVE17, is a 410 amino acid protein that localizes to the early endosome and contains one FYVE-type zinc finger and seven WD repeats through which it may play a role in protein trafficking and signal transduction.

Description:
Proline oxidase catalyzes the conversion of proline to pyrroline-5-carboxylate, or P5C during the degradation of the amino acid Proline. Defects in PRODH are the cause of hyperprolinemia type 1, a disorder characterized by elevated serum proline levels. Defective PRODH may be involved in the psychiatric and behavioral phenotypes associated with the 22q11 velocardiofacial and DiGeorge syndrome and may be associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia 4 (SCZD4).

Description:
PTPN13 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP is a large protein that possesses a PTP domain at C-terminus, and multiple noncatalytic domains, which include a domain with similarity to band 4.1 superfamily of cytoskeletal associated proteins, a region consisting of five PDZ domains, and a leucine zipper motif. This PTP was found to interact with, and dephosphorylate Fas receptor, as well as I-kappa-B-alpha through the PDZ domains, which suggested its role in Fas mediated programmed cell death. This PTP was also shown to interact with GTPase-activating protein, and thus may function as a regulator of Rho signaling pathway.

Description:
The organic anion transporter family of proteins mediate hepatic uptake of cardiac glycosides. OATP-D is a 710 amino acid member of the organic anion transporter protein family. As a multi-pass membrane protein, OATP-D mediates the Na+-independent transport of vasopressin, prostaglandins (PG) E1 and E2, thyroxine (T4), deltorphin II and other organic anions, but not estrone-3-sulfate, DPDPE, taurocholate, DHEAS or digoxin. OATP-D is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels present in leukocytes and spleen. OATP-D is expressed as four isoforms produced by alternative splicing events.
