Signal Regulatory Protein alpha (SIRP alpha) is a monomeric approximately 90 kD type I transmembrane glycoprotein. The 504 amino acid human SIRP alpha contains two Ig-like C1-type domains and one Ig-like V-type domain. SIRP alpha can express in various tissues, mainly on brain and myeloid cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic and Langerhans cells. It also can detect in neurons, smooth muscle and endothelial cells. SIRPA is an immunoglobulin-like cell surface receptor for CD47. SIRP alpha acts as docking protein and induces translocation of PTPN6, PTPN11 and other binding partners from the cytosol to the plasma membrane. SIRP alpha shows adhesion of cerebellar neurons, neurite outgrowth and glial cell attachment. SIRP alpha engagement generally produces a negative regulatory signal; it may mediate negative regulation of phagocytosis, mast cell activation and dendritic cell activation

The tandem array of 15 N-terminal exons, or variable exons, are followed by downstream C-terminal exons, or constant exons, which are shared by all genes in the cluster. The large, uninterrupted N-terminal exons each encode six cadherin ectodomains while the C-terminal exons encode the cytoplasmic domain. These neural cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins are integral plasma membrane proteins that most likely play a critical role in the establishment and function of specific cell-cell connections in the brain. The biological functions of RELM beta and its molecular targets, are not fully known but, it has been suggested that it plays a regulatory role during inflammation and may also act to establish links among adipose tissue, the intestine and the liver. Interestingly the molecular structure of RELM beta is highly homologous to that of the adipose-derived cytokine Resistin and RELM alpha.

NIPSNAP Antibody: NIPSNAP is a member of an evolutionarily well conserved gene family and has a strong sequence similarity to the central portion of a protein encoded by C. elegans chromosome III between a 4-nitrophenylphosphatase (NIP) domain and non-neuronal SNAP25-like protein. Recent studies have indicated that NIPSNAP is involved in the regulation of the Ca2+-selective transient receptor potential vanilloid channel 6 (TRPV6). NIPSNAP1 associates with TRPV6 at the plasma membrane and inhibits TRPV6 currents. Other studies show that NIPSNAP's expression is reduced in the phenylketonuria (PKU) mouse brain, suggesting that NIPSNAP may play a role in memory.
