Gap junction protein, alpha 1 is a member of the connexin gene family and a component of gap junctions. Gap junctions are composed of arrays of intercellular channels and provide a route for the diffusion of materials of low molecular weight from cell to cell. Connexin 43 is the major protein of gap junctions in the heart, and gap junctions are thought to have a crucial role in the synchronized contraction of the heart and in embryonic development. Connexin 43 is targeted by several protein kinases that regulate myocardial cell-cell coupling. A related intron-less connexin 43 pseudogene, GJA1P, has been mapped to chromosome 5.

TRAF6 Antibody: Signals from the IL-1 receptor (IL-1R)/Toll-like receptor (TLR) and TNF receptor (TNFR) superfamilies are critical for regulating the function of antigen-presenting cells. Signals transduced by these molecules lead to increased expression and activation of transcription factors such as NF-kappa B. TNF receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) is unique in that it is a signaling adapter molecule common to both families. TRAF6 is important in cytokine production, dendritic cell (DC) maturation, and the T cell stimulatory capacity of DCs in response to TLR and CD40 ligands. It can be activated in the IL-1R/TLR signaling pathway by IL-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK-1) or by other TLR adaptor molecules such as TRIF. Also, it has been shown that TRAF6 can interact directly with TNFR family members CD40 and RANK.

ZIP7 Antibody: The zinc transporter ZIP7, also known as SLC39A7, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. ZIP7 was initially identified while characterizing genes in the major histocompatibility complex on chromosome 17. ZIP7 mRNA is abundantly and widely expressed and the protein localizes to the Golgi apparatus. It functions to transport intracellular zinc from the Golgi apparatus to the cytoplasm of the cell. ZIP7 expression is expressed by zinc. ZIP7 has been suggested to act a hub for tyrosine kinase activation and may thus be a potential therapeutic target for diseases such as cancer where prevention of tyrosine kinase activation would be advantageous.

ACE2 Antibody: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) plays a central role in vascular, renal, and myocardial physiology. In contrast to its homolog ACE, ACE2 expression is restricted to heart, kidney, and testis. Recently. ACE2 has also been shown to be a functional receptor of the SARS coronavirus. The normal function of ACE2 is to convert the inactive vasoconstrictor angiotensin I (AngI) to Ang1-9 and the active form AngII to Ang1-7, unlike ACE, which converts AngI to AngII. While the role of these vasoactive peptides is not well understood, lack of ACE2 expression in ace2-/ace2- mice leads to severely reduced cardiac contractility, indicating its importance in regulating heart function.

Integrin alpha 4 Antibody: The integrin alpha 4 (also known as CD49d and ITGA4) belongs to the integrin alpha chain family of proteins. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha and beta chains. Alpha4 chain associates with either beta1 or beta7 chain. It has been demonstrated that the putative ligand-binding sites of both integrin alpha4beta1 and alpha4beta7 is located on the alpha4 chain. These ligands included Madcam, VCAM, and fibronectin. Madcam is known as the principal ligand for integrin alpha4beta7. Recently it was also demonstrated that HIV-1 envelope can mimic Madcam by binding to and signaling though integrin alpha4beta1, the gut mucosal homing receptor for peripheral T cells.
