CAPON (carboxy-terminal PDZ ligand of nNOS) selectively binds within the 100 amino acid PDZ domain of the neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), but not to endothelial NOS or inducible NOS, and sequesters nNOS in the cytosol. Members of the suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) family of proteins contain C-terminal regions of homology called the SOCS box, which serves to couple SOCS proteins and their binding partners with the Elongin B/C complex. Several other families of proteins also contain SOCS boxes, but differ from the SOCS proteins in the type of domain they contain upstream of the SOCS box. The largest family of SOCS box-containing proteins is the ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing (ASB) protein family. ASB-7 (ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing 7) is a 318 amino acid protein that contains one SOCS box domain and seven ANK repeats and belongs to the ASB family. Existing as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, ASB-7 functions as a substrate-recognition component of an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex and, working in conjunction with other proteins, plays a role in the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins.

Transcription factor 25 acts as a transcriptional repressor. It has been shown to repress transcription of SRF in vitro and hence may play a role in heart development.Transcription factor 25, is a 676 amino acid protein that plays a role in cell death. A member of the TCF25 family, Nulp1 utilizes its C-terminus to mediate transcriptional repression of SRF in vitro, and interacts with XIAP. Nulp1 localizes primarily to the nucleus but is also found in cytosol. Widely expressed, Nulp1 is found at high levels in embryonic brain and adult heart. The gene encoding Nulp1 maps to human chromosome 16, which encodes over 900 genes and comprises nearly 3% of the human genome. The GAN gene is located on chromosome 16 and, with mutation, may lead to giant axonal neuropathy, a nervous system disorder characterized by increasing malfunction with growth. The rare disorder Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome is also associated with chromosome 16, as is Crohn's disease, which is a gastrointestinal inflammatory condition.

Glucose Oxidase is a dimeric enzyme that binds to _-D-glucose and aids in its oxidation into D-glucono-1,5-lactone which then hydrolyzes to gluconic acid. Flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) is a cofactor to Glucose Oxidase that acts as the initial electron acceptor and is required for this oxidation to occur. Glucose Oxidase is a natural preservative found in honey, where it reduces atmospheric oxygen into hydrogen peroxide which acts as an antibacterial barrier. Glucose Oxidase is also commonly used in biosensors in which it conveys levels of glucose by keeping track of the number of electrons passed through the enzyme. In this application, Glucose Oxidase is connected to an electrode and the resulting charge is measured.

Glucosidase II is an ER-localized enzyme that contains a and b subunits (Glucosidase IIa and Glucosidase IIb) which form a defined heterodimeric complex. Glucosidase IIa is the catalyitc core of the enzyme and can function independently of the b subunit. The sequence of Glucosidase IIb encodes protein rich in glutamic and aspartic acid with a putative ER retention signal (HDEL) at the C-terminus. The phosphorylated form of Glucosidase IIb is localized in the plasma membrane and is highly expressed in FGF-stimulated fibroblasts and epidermal carcinoma cells. Glucosidase IIb was first purified from a human carcinoma cell line as a potential substrate for protein kinase C. Through the HDEL signal at the C-terminus, Glucosidase IIb retains the complete complex in the ER.
