KappaB ras Antibody: KappaB ras-1 ( kappa B-ras-1) and kappaB-ras-2 are two small proteins that similar to Ras-like small GTPases that associate with I kappa B (I kappa B), an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa B. I kappa B exists in two homologous forms, I kappa B-alpha and I kappa B-beta, although I kappa B-beta contains a unique 47-amino acid region within its ankyrin domain. While inactive I kappa B-alpha-NF-kappa B complexes can shuttle in and out of the nucleus, I kappa B-beta-NF-kappa B complexes are retained exclusively in the cytoplasm. It is suggested that kappaB-ras proteins preferentially bind to the I kappa B-beta form through this unique insert within the ankyrin region, thus modulating the cellular location of I kappa B-beta and regulating the rate of degradation of I kappa B-beta. This antibody detects both kappaB-ras1 and kappaB-ras2.

Description:
Annexin VI belongs to a family of calcium-dependent membrane and phospholipid binding proteins. Although their functions are still not clearly defined, several members of the annexin family have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. The annexin VI gene is approximately 60 kbp long and contains 26 exons. It encodes a protein of about 68 kDa that consists of eight 68-amino acid repeats separated by linking sequences of variable lengths. It is highly similar to human annexins I and II sequences, each of which contain four such repeats. Exon 21 of annexin VI is alternatively spliced, giving rise to two isoforms that differ by a 6-amino acid insertion at the start of the seventh repeat. Annexin VI has been implicated in mediating the endosome aggregation and vesicle fusion in secreting epithelia during exocytosis.

Bcl-rambo Antibody: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. Members of the Bcl-2 family are known to be critical regulators of this process. These proteins are characterized by the presence of several conserved motifs termed Bcl-2 homology (BH) domains. A novel, widely expressed member termed Bcl-rambo was recently identified. This protein is localized to mitochondria in mammalian cells and its overexpression induces apoptosis which could be blocked by co-expression of inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) such as XIAP, cIAP1, and cIAP2. Bcl-rambo shows overall homology to the anti-apoptotic members containing BH motifs, but unlike Bcl-2, the C-terminal membrane anchor of Bcl-rambo is preceded by a unique 250 amino acid insertion. This region by itself can induce apoptosis more efficiently than the Bcl-2 homology regions, suggesting that Bcl-rambo may be important other pro-apoptotic pathways.

Tau is a heterogeneous microtubule-associated protein that promotes and stabilizes microtubule assembly, especially in axons. Six isoforms with different amino-terminal inserts and different numbers of tandem repeats near the carboxy-terminus have been identified, and tau is hyperphosphorylated at approximately 25 sites by ERK, GSK-3 and CDK5. Phosphorylation decreases the ability of tau to bind to microtubules. Neurofibrillary tangles are a major hallmark of Alzheimer's disease and these tangles are bundles of paired helical filaments composed of hyperphosphorylated tau. In particular, phosphorylation of Ser396 by GSK-3 or CDK5 destabilizes microtubules in Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, inclusions of tau are found in a number of other neurodegenerative diseases, collectively known as tauopathies (1, 3).
