Amphoterin-Induced Protein 2 (AMIGO2) is a single-pass type I membrane protein which belongs to the AMIGO family of immunoglobulin superfamily. Mature AMIGO2 contains an Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain, 6 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats, a LRRCT domain, as well as a LRRNT domain. AMIGO2 is mainly expressed in in breast, ovary, cervix, and uterus, although lower in lung, colon, and rectum. AMIGO2 required for depolarization-dependent survival of cultured cerebellar granule neurons. AMIGO2 may mediate homophilic as well as heterophilic cell-cell interaction with AMIGO1 or AMIGO3. AMIGO2 may contribute to signal transduction through its intracellular domain, and may be required for tumorigenesis of a subset of gastric adenocarcinomas.

The glycoprotein isolation kit allows isolation of glycoproteins from complex mixtures, including serum, tissue and cultured cell lysates. The procedure uses concanavilin A (ConA) or wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) as a ligand to bind a specific class of glycoprotein from complex protein samples - those containing alpha-lined mannose or terminal glucose residues (in case of ConA) and N-Acetyl glucosamine (GlcNAc) groups or sialic acid (in case of WGA). This kit has been used to isolate glycoproteins from serum as well as HeLa and CHO cell lysates in approximately 50 minutes.

Noggin binds to and antagonizes bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) ligands of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) family. Noggin supports maintenance of undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells cultured in mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF)-conditioned medium (Chaturvedi <i>et al.</i>), and promotes dopaminergic differentiation of embryonic stem cells and subsequent survival of dopamine neurons (Chiba <i>et al.</i>). Noggin is essential for development of ectodermal structures including neural tube, tooth, hair follicle, and eye, as well as patterning of mesodermal somites and skeletal structures. It also influences chondrogenesis, osteogenesis, and joint formation (Krause <i>et al.</i>).
