Description:
Adipophilin belongs to the perilipin family, members of which coat intracellular lipid storage droplets. This protein is associated with the lipid globule surface membrane material and maybe involved in development and maintenance of adipose tissue. It is not restricted to adipocytes as previously thought, but is found in a wide range of cultured cell lines, including fibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells, and tissues, such as lactating mammary gland, adrenal cortex, Sertoli and Leydig cells, and hepatocytes in alcoholic liver cirrhosis, suggesting that it may serve as a marker of lipid accumulation in diverse cell types and diseases.

Noggin binds to and antagonizes bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) ligands of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) family. Noggin supports maintenance of undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells cultured in mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF)-conditioned medium (Chaturvedi <i>et al.</i>), and promotes dopaminergic differentiation of embryonic stem cells and subsequent survival of dopamine neurons (Chiba <i>et al.</i>). Noggin is essential for development of ectodermal structures including neural tube, tooth, hair follicle, and eye, as well as patterning of mesodermal somites and skeletal structures. It also influences chondrogenesis, osteogenesis, and joint formation (Krause <i>et al.</i>).

Description:
Basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-basic), also known as FGF-2, is expressed by endothelial cells and is a mediator of angiogenesis. FGF-basic also has cardioprotective functions during heart injury. FGF-basic is a critical component for embryonic stem cell culture systems and is necessary for maintaining cells in an undifferentiated state. Degredation of the full length FGF-basic N-terminus results in a truncated FGF-basic 147aa protein, when the protein is isolated from biological sources. The N-terminus extensions influence the localization of FGF-basic within the cell, but do not affect the biological activity of FGF-basic. Therefore, there are no detectable differences in biological activity between the full length FGF-basic 154aa and the truncated FGF-basic 147aa recombinant proteins.

Cyclins, regulatory subunits which associate with kinases, control many of the important steps in cell cycle progression. The Cdc2 kinase (p34Cdc2) exhibits kinase activity in vitro and exists in a complex with both cyclin B and a protein homologous to p13SUC1. Cdc2 kinase is the active subunit of the M phase promoting factor (MPF) and the M phase-specific Histone H1 kinase. The p34Cdc2/cyclin B complex is required for the G2 to M transition. An additional cell cycle-dependent protein kinase, termed p55cdc, exhibits a high degree of homology with the S. cerevisiae proteins Cdc20 and Cdc4. Fibroblast growth factor-1 (FGF-1), also designated acidic FGF, and fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2), also designated basic FGF, are members of a family of growth factors that stimulate proliferation of cells of mesenchymal, epithelial and neuroectodermal origin. Additional members of the family include the oncogenes FGF3 (Int2) and FGF4 (hst/Kaposi), FGF5, FGF6, FGF7 (KGF), FGF8 (AIGF), FGF9 (GAF) and FGF10 through FGF-23. Members of the family share 30-55% amino acid sequence identity and similar gene structure, and are capable of transforming cultured cells when overexpressed in trans- fected cells. Cellular receptors for FGFs are members of a second multigene family, including four tyrosine kinases designated Flg (FGFR-1), Bek (FGFR-L), TKF and FGFR-3.

NALP1 Antibody: NALP1 belongs to a family of cytoplasmic proteins that have been implicated in cell responses to apoptotic and inflammatory stimuli. It contains a caspase recruitment domain (CARD) in addition to a NACHT domain and leucine rich repeat (LRR). This protein interacts strongly with caspase 2 and weakly with caspase 9, as well as with Apaf-1. Transient overexpression of this gene in cultured cells was sufficient to induce apoptosis. NALP1 mRNA and protein expression levels in myeloid leukemia cells are increased following CREB (cAMP-response element binding protein) activation, suggesting that NALP1 may contribute to modulate the response of these cells to pro-inflammatory stimuli. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for NALP1.

Description:
B18R, also known as B19R in the Copenhagen strain of Vaccinia, is a type I interferon (IFN)-binding protein encoded by the B18R open reading frame in the Western Reserve strain of vaccinia virus. B18R exists in two forms, soluble and membrane-bound form and has a broad species specificity. B18R has high affinity for human IFN-alpha and binds rabbit, bovine, rat, pig, and mouse IFN-alpha and IFN-beta. Secreted B18R binds to uninfected and infected cells. B18R presents at the cell surface and protects cells from the antiviral state. It has shown that binding of soluble recombinant B18R protects cultured cells from IFN and allows vaccinia virus replication.
