Description:   SCGN is a 276 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that contains six EF-hand domains and is related to the calicium-binding proteins Calretinin and Calbindin D28K. Expressed in a variety of tissues including stomach, thyroid, colon, brain and neuroendocrine cells, SCGN is thought to be involved in cell proliferation and KCl (potassium chloride)-mediated calcium flux events. Through its interaction with KCl and its subsequent ability to modulate calcium storage pools within the cell, SCGN may function to negatively control growth and differentiation rates and, thus, indirectly inhibit cell replication.

Description:   Non-receptor protein-tyrosine kinase implicated in signaling pathways involved in cell motility, proliferation and apoptosis. Activated by tyrosine-phosphorylation in response to either integrin clustering induced by cell adhesion or antibody cross-linking, or via G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) occupancy by ligands such as bombesin or lysophosphatidic acid, or via LDL receptor occupancy. Plays a potential role in oncogenic transformations resulting in increased kinase activity. [SUBCELLULAR LOCATION] Cell junction, focal adhesion. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Note=Constituent of focal adhesions.

Description:   Axotrophin is a stem cell gene that encodes a protein which is involved in T lymphocyte regulation (especially in regulating the proliferation) and leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) release. LIF is a neuropoietic cytokine that is important for stem cell regulation and thymocyte stimulation. Both Axotrophin and LIF are linked to transplantation intolerance. Axotrophin is also involved in corpus callosum differentiation and may play a role in glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF)-dependent sensory neuron survival in the substantia gelatinosa of the adult spinal cord. Axotrophin is primarily expressed in the hippocampus, cortex, purkinje and granule cells of the cerebellum.

Description:   Potently contracts gastrointestinal (GI) smooth muscle. Induces proliferation, migration and fenestration (the formation of membrane discontinuities) in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands. Has little or no effect on a variety of other endothelial and non-endothelial cell types. Induces proliferation and differentiation, but not migration, of enteric neural crest cells. Directly influences neuroblastoma progression by promoting the proliferation and migration of neuroblastoma cells. Positively regulates PTGS2 expression and prostaglandin synthesis. May play a role in placentation. May play a role in normal and pathological testis angiogenesis.

Description:   LCN2 is iron-trafficking protein involved in multiple processes such as apoptosis, innate immunity and renal development. LCN2 binds iron through association with 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,5-DHBA), a siderophore that shares structural similarities with bacterial enterobactin, and delivers or removes iron from the cell, depending on the context. LCN2 is involved in apoptosis due to interleukin-3 (IL3) deprivation: iron-loaded form increases intracellular iron concentration without promoting apoptosis, while iron-free form decreases intracellular iron levels, inducing expression of the proapoptotic protein BCL2L11/BIM, resulting in apoptosis. LCN2 is involved in innate immunity, possibly by sequestrating iron, leading to limit bacterial growth.

Description:   The 17A2 antibody reacts with the mouse CD3 complex, comprised of CD3 epsilon, CD3 gamma and CD3 delta. These integral membrane protein chains assemble with additional chains of the T cell receptor (TCR), as well as CD3 zeta chain, to form the T cell receptor – CD3 complex. Together with co-receptors CD4 or CD8, the complex serves to recognize antigens bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells. Such interactions promote T cell receptor signaling (T cell activation) and can result in a number of cellular responses including proliferation, differentiation, production of cytokines or activation-induced cell death. CD3 is differentially expressed during thymocyte-to-T cell development and on all mature T cells.

Description:   The 2D1 antibody reacts with human CD45, one of the most abundant hematopoietic markers and one that is expressed on all leukocytes (the Leukocyte Common Antigen, LCA). CD45 is a protein tyrosine phosphatase existing in several isoforms, each being generated and expressed in cell-specific patterns. With its broad cell distribution, CD45 is critical for many leukocyte functions, regulating signal transduction and cell activation associated with the T cell receptor, B cell receptor, and IL-2 receptor. Other forms of CD45, with restricted cellular expression, include CD45R (B220), CD45RA, CD45RB, and CD45RO. The 2D1 antibody is widely used as a marker for human CD45 expression on peripheral blood T cells, B cells, monocytes, macrophages, and NK cells.

Description:   Fibronectin is a dimeric glycoprotein of 440 kDa, which is present in cells, extracellular matrix, and blood. It possesses at least four binding sites for collagen, glycosaminoglycans, transglutaminase, and a cell surface receptor. Fibronectin is involved in cell adhesion, tissue organization, and wound healing. This MAb is directed against the peptide core and reacts with both the plasma and cellular forms of fibronectin. It blocks the fibronectin-medicated cell attachment not by disrupting the collagen-fibronectin interaction, but by interfering with the attachment of fibronectin to its receptor on the cell surface.

Description:   Rab17 belongs to the Rab family of small Ras-like GTPases. It is specifically expressed in epithelial cells and is upregulated during cell polarization. Immunofluorescence staining studies indicate that Rab17 is associated with the perinuclear recycling endosome in nonpolarized epithelial cells and with the apical recycling endosome in polarized epithelial cells. The function of Rab17 remains unclear. Reports of Rab17 colocalization with internalized IgA in the apical endosome suggest that it may regulate receptor-mediated transcytosis. Rab17 has also been shown to regulate melanocytic filopodia formation and melanosome trafficking. siRNA knockdown of Rab17 in melanoma cells induces melanosome accumulation in the cell periphery.
