Description:   Ligand-specific transporter trafficking between intracellular organelles (TGN) and the plasma membrane. Plays a role in autocrine regulation of cell growth mediated by growth regulators containing cell surface retention sequence binding (CRS). May act as an hyaluronan (HA) transporter, either mediating its uptake for catabolism within lymphatic endothelial cells themselves, or its transport into the lumen of afferent lymphatic vessels for subsequent re-uptake and degradation in lymph nodes.

Description:   DARPP-32, a dopamine (DA) and cAMP-regulated ~32k phosphoprotein that is associated with dopaminoceptive neurons bearing D-1 receptors in the basal ganglia. The protein inhibits protein phosphatase I when it is phosphorylated on Thr34. In contrast, when DARPP-32 is phosphorylated on Thr75 the protein acts as an inhibitor of PKA. Phosphorylation of DARPP-32 is thought to play a critical role in the regulation of dopaminergic neurotransmission. In addition, the activity of DARPP-32 is also thought to play important roles in the actions of alcohol, caffeine and Prozac®.

Description:   Dynamin is a member of a group of nerve terminal proteins called dephosphins that regulate synaptic vesicle endocytosis. Cyclin dependent protein kinase 5 phosphorylates dynamin at Ser774 and Ser778 that are the phosphorylation sites on dynamin phosphorylated in vivo. Phosphorylation of these sites on dynamin is thought to play a key role in synaptic vesicle trafficking.

Description:   The ion channels activated by glutamate are typically divided into two classes. Those that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR) while those activated by beta-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid (AMPA) are known as AMPA receptors (AMPAR). The AMPAR are comprised of four distinct subunits GluR1-4 and they play key roles in virtually all excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. The GluR1 subunit is widely expressed throughout the nervous system. GluR1 is also potentiated by phosphorylation at Ser831. In addition, phosphorylation of this site has been linked to synaptic plasticity as well and learning and memory.

Description:   POMT1 is an O-mannosyltransferase that requires interaction with the product of the POMT2 gene for enzymatic function. The encoded protein is found in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum. Defects in this gene are a cause of Walker-Warburg syndrome (WWS) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2K (LGMD2K).O-mannosylation is an important protein modification in eukaryotes that is initiated by an evolutionarily conserved family of protein O-mannosyltransferases. POMT1 shares sequence similarity with protein O-mannosyltransferases of S. cerevisiae. In yeast, these enzymes are located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and are required for cell integrity and cell wall rigidity. POMT1 also shows similarity to the Drosophila 'rotated abdomen' (rt) gene, which when mutated causes defects in myogenesis and muscle structure.

Description:   Rim3 Antibody: Rab3-interacting molecules (RIMs) are synaptic proteins are synaptic proteins necessary for neural transmission and plasticity. While both Rim1 and Rim 2 are thought to be effector proteins for Rab3, binding to Rab3 on synaptic vesicles in a GTP-dependent manner, less is known of Rim3. Expression of Rim3 in PC12 cells induced a significant increase in calcium-triggered exocytosis, with no appreciable change in the baseline release, suggesting that it plays a role in the regulation of exocytosis. Rim3 protein localizes primarily to neuronal dendrites and the postsynaptic densities, as opposed to Rim1 which is found in presynapse locations, indicating that Rim3 may contribute to synapse transmission and plasticity.

Description:   Slitrk3 Antibody: SLIT and NTRK-like family 3 (Slitrk3) is a member a protein family consisting of six homologous transmembrane proteins (Slitrk1-6) that share two conserved leucine-rich repeat domains in the extracellular domain and have significant homology to Slit, a secreted axonal growth-controlling protein. These proteins are also homologous to trk neurotrophin receptors in their intracellular domains. Expression of Slitrk proteins is highly restricted to neural and brain tumor tissues, but varies within the protein family. Like every other Slitrk protein except Slitrk1, overexpression of Slitrk3 inhibited neurite outgrowth in cultured neurons, suggesting that these proteins are involved in the control of neurite outgrowth.

Description:   Breakdown products of phosphoinositides are ubiquitous second messengers that function downstream of many G protein-coupled receptors and tyrosine kinases regulating cell growth, calcium metabolism, and protein kinase C activity. CDS1 is an enzyme which regulates the amount of phosphatidylinositol available for signaling by catalyzing the conversion of phosphatidic acid to CDP-diacylglycerol. This enzyme is an integral membrane protein localized to two subcellular domains, the matrix side of the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is thought to be involved in the synthesis of phosphatidylglycerol and cardiolipin and the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum where it functions in phosphatidylinositol biosynthesis.Breakdown products of phosphoinositides are ubiquitous second messengers that function downstream of many G protein-coupled receptors and tyrosine kinases regulating cell growth, calcium metabolism, and protein kinase C activity. Two genes encoding this enzyme have been identified in humans, one mapping to human chromosome 4q21 and a second to 20p13.

Description:   Various cellular organelles and vesicles are transported along the microtubules in the cytoplasm. Likewise, membrane recycling of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), Golgi assembly at the microtubule organizing center, and alignment of lysosomes along microtubules are all related processes. The transport of organelles requires a special class of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs). One of these is the molecular motor kinesin, an ATPase that moves vesicles unidirectionally toward the plus end of the microtubule. Another such MAP is kinectin, a large integral ER membrane protein. Antibodies directed against kinectin have been shown to inhibit its binding to kinesin.Various cellular organelles and vesicles are transported along the microtubules in the cytoplasm.
