Tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO) is a heme-containing dioxygenase catalyzing the addition of molecular oxygen across the 2,3-double bond of the indole ring of tryptophan to form N-formylkynurenine (NFK). In Anopheles gambiae, TDO is the only enzyme able to catalyze the first and rate-limiting step in L-Trp catabolism through the kynurenine pathway. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid for protein synthesis and also the precursor for production of a number of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and melatonin; in mosquitoes, the kynurenine pathway is essential for eye pigmentation. Conceivably, the tryptophan-using pathways should be regulated in a coordinated manner in mosquitoes as well as in other species and TDO activation/inactivation processes could play an essential role in these phenomena.

CD46 is a type I membrane protein containing four Sushi domains. CD46 is expressed by all cells except erythrocytes. CD46 has cofactor activity for inactivation of complement components C3b and C4b by serum factor I, which protects the host cell from damage by complement. It may be involved in the fusion of the spermatozoa with the oocyte during fertilization. CD46 also acts as a costimulatory factor for T-cells which induces the differentiation of CD4+ into T-regulatory 1 cells. T-regulatory 1 cells suppress immune responses by secreting interleukin-10, and therefore are thought to prevent autoimmunity. A number of viral and bacterial pathogens exploit this property and directly induce an immunosuppressive phenotype in T-cells by binding to CD46. CD46 acts as a receptor for the Edmonston strain of measles virus, human herpesvirus-6, and type IV pili of pathogenic Neisseria.

Cysteine-rich secretory protein 3 (CRISP-3) is a secreted protein,containing 1 SCP domain and 1 ShKT domain.It is belongs to the CRISP family. CRISP-3 is a glycoprotein that belongs to the family of cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISPs) which was originally discovered in human neutrophilic granulocytes. CRISP-3 is also widely distibuted in exocrine glands (salivary glands, pancreas and prostate), eosinophilic granulocytes and to a lower level in epididymis, ovary, thymus and colon. The presence of CRISP-3 in neutrophils, eosinophils and in exocrine secretions indicates a role in innate host defense. The antibody has been raised against recombinant C-terminally truncated form of CRISP-3 and recognizes both the N-glycosylated and non-glycosylated form of the mature protein.

WW Domain-Binding Protein 2 (WBP2) is a ubiquitous protein that contains one GRAM domain. The WW domain is composed of 38 to 40 semi-conserved AA shared by proteins of diverse functions including structural, regulatory, and signaling proteins. The domain is participated in mediating protein-protein interactions. WBP2 binds to the WW domain of YAP1, WWP1 and WWP2. The WW-binding 1 motif of WBP2 mediates interaction with NEDD4. GLP-1 is a proglucagon-derived peptide hormone secreted primarily by intestinal L cells during feeding. Its major physiological function is stimulation of pancreatic β-cells to release appropriate amounts of insulin after glucose absorption. Other biological actions exhibited by GLP-1 include suppression of plasma glucagons levels, inhibition of gastric motility, and promotion of satiety. The secretion of GLP-1 from intestinal L cells is stimulated by nutrients, hormones, and neural inputs. On the other hand, insulin has been reported to inhibit GLP-1 release, indicating that a feedback loop mechanism regulates GLP-1 secretion. In addition to being the precursor of GLP-1, proglucagon, whose primary structure is highly conserved in mammalian species, is also the precursor for other members of the glucagon family of peptide hormones including glicentin-related pancreatic peptide (GRPP), glucagons, and GLP-2. Recombinant human GLP-1 is a 3.3 kDa consisting of 31 amino acid residues.
