Description:   FTO Antibody: Rising obesity rates are rapidly becoming a growing health concern in the developing world. The fat mass and obesity associated gene (FTO) is the first gene discovered to contribute to common forms of human obesity. FTO is a member of the non-heme dioxygenase superfamily, encoding a 2-oxoglutarate-dependent nucleic acid demethylase whose mRNA is widely expressed, especially in neurons of feeding-related nuclei of the brain. FTO mRNA in the arcuate nucleus in mice is up-regulated by feeding and down-regulated during fasting, although the opposite pattern has been observed in rats. At least four isoforms of FTO are known to exist.

Description:   GATA3 Antibody: GATA3 is a zinc finger transcription factor that was first recognized as a possible determinant of T cell development. Later studies demonstrated that it is expressed in trophoblast giant cells and regulates trophoblast-specific genes during development. Description:   Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. Prostate specific antigen/KLK3 is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. It is a protease present in seminal plasma. It is thought to function normally in the liquefaction of seminal coagulum, presumably by hydrolysis of the high molecular mass seminal vesicle protein. Description:   Fibroblast growth factor 4 (FGF-4) is a member of the FGF superfamily (Beenken and Mohammadi). FGF-4 is expressed in pluripotent stem cells and is implicated in various stages of development and morphogenesis in a variety of organisms (Kosaka <i>et al.</i> 2009). FGF-4 has been shown to have an ability to promote neural stem cell proliferation and neuronal differentiation in the postnatal brain (Kosaka <i>et al.</i> 2006). FGF-4 has also been shown to increase the proliferation rate of mesenchymal stem cells (Farré <i>et al.</i>). FGF-4 supports the maintenance and self-renewal properties of human embryonic stem cells and also promotes the proliferation of these cells (Mayshar <i>et al.</i>). Description:   TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 1 is also known as TIMP1, a tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases, is a glycoprotein that is expressed from the several tissues of organisms. This protein a member of the TIMP family.There are four members of the family, TIMP1,TIMP2,TIMP3 and TIMP4. TIMP1 is a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 28 kDa produced by a wide range of cell types. The glycoprotein is a natural inhibitor of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. Description:   KCTD15 Antibody: Childhood and adult obesity in the United States and to a lesser extent the rest of the world has increased dramatically over the past decade. Both environmental and genetic factors are involved in the onset and progression of weight gain. Recently, the potassium channel KCTD15 was identified as a genetic loci associated with higher than normal body mass index (BMI) in humans along with genes such as GNPDA2, MTCH2, FTO, and TMEM18. Further studies on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in non-diabetic and diabetic patients showed that FTO was most strongly associated with obesity while MTCH2 and GNPDA2 were still significantly associated with higher than normal BMI levels. At least two isoforms of KCTD15 are known to exist.
