alpha-N-Acetylneuraminide alpha-2,8-Sialyltransferase (ST8SIA1) belongs to the glycosyltransferase 29 family. ST8SIA1 is a sialytransferase that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to GM3 to produce GD3 and GT3. ST8SIA1 is highly expressed in melanoma cell lines, adult and fetal brain, low expressed in adult and fetal lung. ST8SIA1 may act as a type II transmembrane protein with a short N-termianl cytoplasmic domain and a single-pass transmembrane domain folowed by an enzymatic domain in the lument of the Golgi apparatus.

It contains ten LRR (leucine-rich) repeats, one LRRCT domain, and one LRRNT domain. LRRTM2 is expressed in neuronal tissues, and it interacts with DLG4 and NRXN1. The CSF2RA gene is found in the pseudoautosomal region (PAR) of the X and Y chromosomes with some of the isoforms being membrane-bound and others being soluble. CSF2RA is a low affinity receptor for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor. CSF2RA transduces a signal that results in the proliferation, differentiation, and functional activation of hematopoietic cells. Defects in CSF2RA are the cause of pulmonary surfactant metabolism dysfunction type 4 (SMDP4).

Fc Receptor-Like Protein 1 (FCRL1) is a single-pass type I membrane protein that may function as an activating coreceptor in B cells. FCRL1 is primarily expressed in secondary lymphoid tissues by mature subsets of B cells. It can be detected in the spleen, lymph node, heart, skeletal muscle, kidney, liver and placenta. It is specifically expressed by mature B lineage cells with higher expression at the protein level in naive B cells compared to memory B cells. FCRL1 contains three extracellular C2-like immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain with two immunoreceptor-tyrosine activation motifs and may play a role in the regulation of cancer cell growth.
