Description:
Cyclins, regulatory subunits which associate with kinases, control many of the important steps in cell cycle progression. The Cdc2 kinase (p34Cdc2) exhibits kinase activity in vitro and exists in a complex with both cyclin B and a protein homologous to p13SUC1. Cdc2 kinase is the active subunit of the M phase promoting factor (MPF) and the M phase-specific Histone H1 kinase. The p34Cdc2/cyclin B complex is required for the G2 to M transition. An additional cell cycle-dependent protein kinase, termed p55cdc, exhibits a high degree of homology with the S. cerevisiae proteins Cdc20 and Cdc4. The p55cdc transcript is readily detectable in a variety of cultured cell lines in growth phase, but disappears when cell growth is chemically arrested.

Description:
These Chemiluminescent Western Blot Kits allow for the detection of primary polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies provided by the user. After protein separation and transfer, the membrane is probed with primary antibody. Detection of the membrane-bound primary antibody-antigen complex is achieved by the addition of a secondary antibody conjugated to the enzyme horseradish peroxidase. The enzyme reacts with a specialised formulation of luminol, an extremely sensitive, non radioactive substrate that emits light and allows visualisation using X-ray film or other imaging methods, including highly sensitive CCD cameras and imaging systems. Because of the extremely high sensitivity of the kit, primary and secondary antibodies can be used at greater dilutions. Primary antibodies currently diluted 1:1000 using an ECL™ substrate is the equivalent of a 1:5000 dilution using the FemtoMax™ substrate.

Description:
p63 is a homolog of the tumor suppressor p53. It is identified in basal cells in the epithelial layers of a variety of tissues, including epidermis, cervix, urothelium, breast and prostate. p63 was detected in nuclei of the basal epithelium in normal prostate glands; however, it was not expressed in malignant tumors of the prostate. As a result, p63 has been reported as a useful marker for differentiating benign from malignant lesions in the prostate, particularly when used in combination with markers of high molecular weight cytokeratins and the prostate-specific marker AMACR (P504S). p63 has also been shown to be a sensitive marker for lung squamous cell carcinomas (SqCC), with a sensitivity of ~90%. Specificity for lung SqCC, vs. lung adenocarcinoma (LADC), is approximately 80%. In breast tissue, p63 has been identified in myoepithelial cells of normal ducts.

Stimulating T cells with JCV (VP1) Peptide pool releases downstream cytokines and upregulates activation markers, enabling antigen-specific T cells to be detected or isolated for analysis. This peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 86 peptides from major capsid protein VP1 (VP1) of the JC polyomavirus (JCV), and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 354 on VP1. VP1 binds LSTc oligosaccharides found on host cell glycoproteins and glycolipids, and this interaction is said to be essential for JCV viral growth and infectivity (Neu <i>et al.</i>). The JCV VP1 (Del Valle <i>et al.</i>) and large T antigen (LT) (Delbue <i>et al.</i>) are detected in JCV-associated pathologies such as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) in patients with HIV. Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.
