Description:
Trefoil Factor 2 (TFF2) is a member of the trefoil family and contains two P-type (trefoil) domains. Members of this family are characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. TFF2 is a secreted protein and specifically expressed in the stomach. TFF2 inhibits gastrointestinal motility and gastric acid secretion. TFF2 could function as a structural component of gastric mucus, possibly by stabilizing glycoproteins in the mucus gel through interactions with carbohydrate side chains.

Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme E2 B (UBE2B) is a member of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. UBE2B accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. It is shown that UBE2B interacts with RAD18, UBR2, and WAC. UBE2B is required for post-replicative DNA damage repair. Additional, UBE2B plays a role in sepsis-induced muscle protein proteolysis and cancer-induced cachexia.

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist protein (Il1rn), also known as IL-1ra, IRAP or IL1 inhibitor, is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This protein inhibits the activities of interleukin 1 alpha (IL1A) and interleukin 1 beta (IL1B), and modulates a variety of interleukin 1 related immune and inflammatory responses. The mouse Il1rn gene encodes a 178 amino acids (aa) protein with a 26 aa signal peptide. Mouse Il1rn protein shares 26% and 19% identity with its homologues IL-1 beta and IL-1 alpha, respectively. Il1rn can Inhibits the activity of interleukin-1 by binding to receptor IL1R1 and preventing its association with the coreceptor IL1RAP for signalling, but has no interleukin-1 like activity. Recently, an recombinant human Il1rn protein is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease in which IL-1 plays a key role.

Description:
Thioredoxin-2 (TXN2) is a mitochondrial member of the thioredoxin family. Thioredoxin-2 is extensively expressed in adult and fetal tissues. Thioredoxin-2 contains an N-terminal 59 amino acid transit peptide, which is cleaved before translocating to mitochondria. Mitochondrial thioredoxin play important roles in the regulation of the mitochondrial membrane potential and in protection against oxidant-induced apoptosis. Thioredoxin-2 could be involved in the resistance to anti-tumor agents and possesses a dithiol-reducing activity. In addition, Thioredoxin-2 is important at low oxidative stress conditions.

Tumor Necrosis Factor beta (TNF- beta ) is a secreted protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor family. TNF- beta binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1, TNFRSF1B/TNFBR and TNFRSF14/HVEM in homotrimeric form, binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR in heterotrimeric form with LTB. TNF- beta forms heterotrimers with lymphotoxin-beta, which anchors TNF- beta to the cell surface. TNF- beta mediates the inflammatory, immunostimulatory, and antiviral response, involves in the formation of second lymphoid organs during development, has a role in apoptosis. TNF- beta is produced by lymphocytes and cytotoxic for a variety of tumor cells in vitro and in vivo.

Description:
Microtubule-Associated Protein TAU is abundantly expressed in neurons of the central nervous system and less commonly expressed elsewhere, but is also expressed at very low levels in CNS astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Tau interacts with tubulin to stabilize microtubules and promotes tubulin assembly into microtubules. The C-terminus of TAU binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau acts as a linker protein. When tau is defective, and no longer stabilize microtubules properly, it can result in dementias such as Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies.

Description:
T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-3 (TIM3), also called hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2 (HAVCR2), is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the TIM family of immune regulating molecules and plays an important role in the Th1-mediated immune response. TIM3 is expressed on the Th1 cells, CD8 T-cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells, but not on Th2 cells. TIM3 expressed by monocytes and dendritic cells facilitates phagocytosis of apoptotic cells and up-regulates cross-presentation of apoptotic cell-associated antigens through interaction with phosphatidylserine. Engagement of TIM3 by its ligand galectin-9 induces a range of immunosuppressive functions which enhance immune tolerance and inhibit anti-tumor immunity. Stimulation of TIM3 with an agonistic antibody promotes inflammation through the activation of innate immune cells. TIM3 is also regarded as a potential target molecule for immunotherapy. TIM3 and programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) as two important coinhibitory regulators of T cell responses, have been implicated with the T-cell dysfunction or exhaustion associated with chronic HBV infection including HBV-related HCC.

Brain-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) is a non-glycosylated peptide that is produced predominantly by ventricular myocytes and belongs to the natriuretic peptide family. Proteolytic cleavage of the 12 kDa BNP precursor gives rise to N-terminal Pro BNP (NT-proBNP) and mature BNP. N-terminal proB-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), a useful marker of heart failure (HF), is considered to be secreted mainly from the ventricle, increased serum NT-proBNP levels are also encountered in conditions such as atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial septal defect in patients without HF.

Description:
CD300A is a single-pass type I membrane protein which belongs to the CD300 family. It contains 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. The CD300 family of myeloid immunoglobulin receptors includes activating (CD300b, CD300e) and inhibitory members (CD300a, CD300f), as well as molecules presenting a negative charge within their transmembrane domain (CD300c, CD300d). It is expressed not only by natural killer (NK) cells but also by T-cell subsets, B-cells, dendritic cells, mast cells, granulocytes and monocytes. CD300A is an inhibitory receptor which may contribute to the down-regulation of cytolytic activity in natural killer (NK) cells, and to the down-regulation of mast cell degranulation. CD300c is a functional immune receptor able to deliver activating signals upon ligation in RBL-2H3 mast cells.

Description:
Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (ESAM) is a 55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein member of the JAM family of immunoglobulin superfamily molecules. The 390 amino acid Human ESAM contains a 216 amino acid extracellular domain (ECD) with a V-type and a C2-type immunoglobulin (Ig) domain. ESAM is specifically expressed at endothelial tight junctions and on activated platelets and performs homophilic adhesion activity. The adaptor protein membrane-associated guanylate kinase MAGI-1 has been identified as an intracellular binding partner of ESAM. In addition, ESAM at endothelial tight junctions participates in the migration of neutrophils through the vessel wall, possibly by influencing endothelial cell contacts. ESAM-deficient mice were described with lowered angiogenic potential, and accordingly, overexpression of ESAM is closely associated with certain tumor growth and metastasis. ESAM is expressed on endothelial cells, activated platelets and megakaryocytes. The ECD of human and mouse ESAM share 69% amino acid identity.
