Irisin is a recently described exercise-induced hormone secreted by skeletal muscle in mice and humans. Irisin activates beige fat cells (beige cells have a gene expression pattern distinct from either white or brown fat and are preferentially sensitive to the polypeptide hormone Irisin). Irisin is cleaved from the type I membrane protein FNDC5 and improves systemic metabolism by increasing energy expenditure.

Description:
Cochlin is an extracellular matrix protein expressed in the cochlea and vestibule of the inner ear. Mutations in the cochlin gene are linked to the autosomal-dominant DFNA9 syndrome, a disorder characterised by hearing loss. Cochlin is also expressed in follicular dendritic cells of the spleen and the lymph nodes. The N-terminus of cochlin contains a LCCL domain also present in Factor C, a serine protease of the horseshoe crab Limulus, involved in activating the coagulation cascade in response to LPS. A recent study showed that in response to inflammation, LPS or bacterial infection, cochlin is cleaved by the proteases aggrecanases and secreted into blood circulation. The secreted cochlin (LCCL domain) seems to have a role in local cytokine production, recruitment of immune effector cells and bacterial clearance. Cochlin is secreted as two forms p8 and p18, whereas p18 being the glycosylated form of p8.

Retinol Binding Protein 4 (RBP4) is a member of the Lipocalin family and in the blood. RBP4 is the specific vector for retinol. RBP4 is expressed and secreted by adipose tissue, and is associated with insulin resistance. RBP4 delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin to prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. Defects in RBP4 cause retinol-binding protein deficiency and can cause night vision problems.

40S Ribosomal Protein S19 (RPS19) is a ribosomal protein that Belongs to the ribosomal protein S19e family. RPS19 is located in the nucleoli, and higher level expression is seen in colon carcinoma tissue than normal colon tissue. It required for pre-rRNA processing and maturation of 40S ribosomal subunits. RPS19 plays a role in many biological processes, such as endocrine pancreas development, erythrocyte differentiation, mRNA metabolic process. Defects in RPS19 are the cause of Diamond-Blackfan anemia type 1 (DBA1), which is a form of Diamond-Blackfan anemia, a congenital non-regenerative hypoplastic anemia that usually presents early in infancy. Diamond-Blackfan anemia is characterized by a moderate to severe macrocytic anemia, erythroblastopenia, and an increased risk of malignancy.

The epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) is known to express in most epithelial malignancies and was reported as a tumor marker or a candidate of molecular targeting therapy.
Ep-CAM cross signaling with N-cadherin involves Pi3K, resulting in the abrogation of the cadherin adhesion complexes in epithelial cells was reported. And Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) recently received increased attention as a prognostic factor in breast cancer.

Mouse coagulation factor X / F10 a member of the peptidase S1 family. The mature F10 is composed mostly of two EGF-like domains, one Gla gamma-carboxy-glutamate domain and one peptidase S1 domain. Factor Xa is a vitamin K-dependent plasma protease that converts prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of factor Va, calcium and phospholipid during blood clotting. Nectin-2( CD112) is a member of the nectin family, which contains two Ig-like C2-type domains and one Ig-like V-type domain in the extracellular region. Nectins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins that are calcium-independent immunoglobulin (Ig)-like cell adhesion molecules (CAMs). Nectin2 is widely expressed in human tissues including brain, spinal cord, spleen, kidney, heart and liver. It can form trans-heterodimers with PVRL3/nectin-3 and interacts with CD226. Mutations of alleles of the murine CD112 gene can result in conditions such as morphologically aberrant spermatozoa. It may function in allergic reactions, and accordingly may used as a novel target for anti-allergic therapy.

Interleukin-33 (IL-33) belongs to the IL-1 superfamily. IL33 is highly expressed in endothelial venules found in tonsils, Peyer patches and mesenteric lymph nodes, but almost undetectable in placenta. IL33 induces the production of T helper-2 (Th2)-associated cytokines. Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 10C (TNFRSF10C) is a glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol-linked membrane protein which binds TRAIL with high affinity. TNFRSF10C has the TRAIL-binding extracellular cysteine-rich domains, lacks the intracellular signaling domain. As a result, binding of TRAIL to TRAIL R3 doesn’t transduce an apoptosis signal. The expression of TRAIL R3 gene has been shown to protect cells bearing TRAIL R1 and/or TRAIL R2 from TRAIL-induced apoptosis.
