The bone morphogenetic protein receptor, type IA is also known as BMPR1A or ALK3 is a protein which in humans is encoded by the BMPR1A gene. BMPR1A has also been designated as CD292 (cluster of differentiation 290). The bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptors are a family of transmembrane serine/threonine kinases that include the type I receptors BMPR1A (this protein) and BMPR1B and the type II receptor BMPR2. These receptors are also closely related to the activin receptors, ACVR1 and ACVR2[1]. Alk3-mediated BMP signaling in AV endocardial/mesenchymal cells plays a central role during cushion morphogenesis.

Angiopoietin-related protein 4 (ANGPTL4) is also known as Hepatic fibrinogen / angiopoietin - related protein (HFARP), ARP4, PGAR. ANGPTL4 contains one fibrinogen C-terminal domain. ANGPTL4 is a homooligomer , and the homooligomer undergoes proteolytic processing to release its carboxyl fibrinogen-like domain, which circulates as a monomer. The homooligomer unprocessed form is able to interact with the extracellular matrix. ANGPTL4 may act as a regulator of angiogenesis and modulate tumorigenesis. ANGPTL4 inhibits proliferation, migration, and tubule formation of endothelial cells and reduces vascular leakage. Cadherin-3 (CDH3) is a single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the cadherin superfamily. CDH3 is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. CDH3 is expressed in some normal epithelial tissues and in some carcinoma cell lines. CDH3 preferentially interacts with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells. CDH3 is involved in loss of heterosygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. Mutations in CDH3 have been associated with congential hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.

Kallikrein7, also named as stratum corneum chymotryptic enzyme (SCCE), is a secreted protein of the Kallikrein-related peptidase (KLK) family. This family contains fifteen homologous secreted serine endopeptidases and plays a significant role in various physiological processes, including skin desquamation, semen liquefaction, neural plasticity, and body fluid homeostasis. In skin KLK5, KLK 7 and KLK14 are able to degrade corneodesmosomes, which leads to desquamation of skin surface cells. KLK activation is believed to be mediated through highly organised proteolytic cascades, regulated through a series of feedback loops, inhibitors, auto-degradation and internal cleavages. Studies have shown that one potential physiological activator for KLK7 is KLK5. Along with KLK14, these three kallikreins form a proteolytic cascade in the stratum corneum. KLK7 is primarily expressed in the skin but is also detected at relatively high levels in oesophagus, heart, liver, central nervous system, kidney, pancreas, mammary and salivary glands.
