Description:   The Rh blood group system is the second most clinically significant of the blood groups, second only to ABO. It is also the most polymorphic of the blood groups, with variations due to deletions, gene conversions, and missense mutations. The Rh blood group includes this gene which encodes both the RhC and RhE antigens on a single polypeptide and a second gene which encodes the RhD protein. The classification of Rh-positive and Rh-negative individuals is determined by the presence or absence of the highly immunogenic RhD protein on the surface of erythrocytes. A mutation in this gene results in amorph-type Rh-null disease. The Rh blood group system is the second most clinically significant of the blood groups, second only to ABO. Description:   The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to the CD4 receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). CD4 is a 59 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein that expressed on the surface of most of the thymocytes, T-helper cells, and in low levels on monocytes and macrophages. CD4 is a co-receptor in the antigen-induced T cell activation, together with the MHC class II. The RPA-T4 antibody is capable of blocking HIV binding and inhibiting syncytium formation, by binding to the D1 domain of the CD4 antigen. The OKT4 and the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibodies recognize different epitopes of CD4 and they do not exhibit cross-block binding.

Description:   GOLGA5 Antibody: GOLGA5 (Golgi autoantigen, subfamily A, member 5), also known as GOLGA84, RFG5 (RET-fused gene 5 protein) or GOLIM5, is a ubiquitously expressed single-pass type II coiled-coil membrane protein that is involved in maintaining Golgi structure. It is localized to the Golgi apparatus and predominantly found on membranes at the cis side of the Golgi stack (1,2). As a mitotic phosphoprotein, GOLGA5 binds to active Rab 1 and associates with CASP (an isoform of CDP) in a golgin-tethering complex that is believed to play a role in intra-Golgi retrograde transport. Defects in GOLGA5 are a cause of thyroid papillary carcinoma (TPC).

Description:   CDH8 is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherin proteins are composed of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, highly conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. The extracellular domain consists of 5 subdomains, each containing a cadherin motif, and appears to determine the specificity of the protein's homophilic cell adhesion activity. Type II (atypical) cadherins are defined based on their lack of a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type I cadherins. This particular cadherin is expressed in brain and is putatively involved in synaptic adhesion, axon outgrowth and guidance. This gene encodes a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Description:   Required for maintenance of chromosomal stability. Promotes accurate and efficient pairing of homologs during meiosis. Involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks, both by homologous recombination and single-strand annealing. May participate in S phase and G2 phase checkpoint activation upon DNA damage. Plays a role in preventing breakage and loss of missegregating chromatin at the end of cell division, particularly after replication stress. Required for the targeting, or stabilization, of BLM to non-centromeric abnormal structures induced by replicative stress. Promotes BRCA2/FANCD1 loading onto damaged chromatin. May also be involved in B-cell immunoglobulin isotype switching.

Description:   Protein jagged-1 (JAG1) is also known as Jagged1, hJ1, JAGL1 and CD339, which is a single-pass type I membrane protein containing one DSL domain and 15 EGF-like domains. JAG1 is widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues, the expression of JAG1 is up-regulated in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and also expressed in bone marrow cell line HS-27a.JAG1 is a ligand for multiple Notch receptors and involved in the mediation of Notch signaling. JAG1 is involved in early and late stages of mammalian cardiovascular development. JAG1 inhibits myoblast differentiation by similarity and enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced angiogenesis (in vitro).

Description:   COL5A1 encodes an alpha chain for one of the low abundance fibrillar collagens. Fibrillar collagen molecules are trimers that can be composed of one or more types of alpha chains. Type V collagen is found in tissues containing type I collagen and appears to regulate the assembly of heterotypic fibers composed of both type I and type V collagen. COL5A1 product is closely related to type XI collagen and it is possible that the collagen chains of types V and XI constitute a single collagen type with tissue-specific chain combinations. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, types I and II. [provided by RefSeq].

Description:   The aldehyde dehydrogenases are a family of isozymes that may play a major role in the detoxification of aldehydes generated by alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. ALDH3B1 is highly expressed in kidney and lung. The aldehyde dehydrogenases are a family of isozymes that may play a major role in the detoxification of aldehydes generated by alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. This particular gene spans about 20 kb of genomic DNA and is composed of 9 coding exons. The gene encodes a single transcript of 2.8 kb which is highly expressed in kidney and lung. The functional significance of this gene as well as the cellular localization of its product are presently unknown. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
