Parathyroid hormone (PTH), parathormone or parathyrin, is secreted by the chief cells of the parathyroid glands as a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids, yet effective hormone-receptor interaction requires solely the 34-N-terminal amino acids. While PTH acts to increase the concentration of ionic calcium (Ca2+) in the blood, calcitonin, a hormone produced by the parafollicular cells (C cells) of the thyroid gland, acts to decrease ionic calcium concentration. PTH essentially acts to increase the concentration of calcium in the blood by acting upon the parathyroid hormone 1 receptor, which is present at high levels in bone and kidney, and the parathyroid hormone 2 receptor, which is present at high levels in the central nervous system, pancreas, testis, and placenta. AMACR, also known as p504S is an enzyme that is involved in bile acid biosynthesis and beta-oxidation of branched-chain fatty acids. It is expressed in cells of premalignant high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) and prostate adenocarcinoma. The majority of the carcinoma cells show a distinct granular cytoplasmic staining reaction. AMACR is present at low or undetectable levels in glandular epithelial cells of normal prostate and benign prostatic hyperplasia. A spotty granular cytoplasmic staining is seen in a few cells of the benign glands.

Produced from 3× crystallised chymotrypsinogen α-Chymotrypsin is used for treating pancreatic insufficiency and in traumatology. Chymotrypsin preferentially catalyses the hydrolysis of peptide bonds involving L-isomers of tyrosine, phenylalanine, and tryptophan. It also readily acts upon amides and esters of susceptible amino acids. In addition to bonds involving aromatic amino acids, chymotrypsin catalyses at a high rate the hydrolysis of bonds of leucyl, methionyl, asparaginyl, and glutamyl residues. a-Chymotrypsin is a protein consisting of 241 amino acid residues. The molecule has three peptide chains: an A chain of 13 residues, a B chain of 131 residues, and a C chain of 97 residues.

Fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5) is a cytoplasm protein that belongs to the fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family of calycin superfamily. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids. FABP5 can be expressed in keratinocytes, and is highly expressed in psoriatic skin. FABP5 has been shown to be involved in keratinocyte differentiation. FABP5 has high specificity for fatty acids, the highest affinity for C18 chain length. FABP5 can decrease the chain length or introduce double bonds to reduce the affinity.
