Description:
Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) constitute a family of heparin-binding polypeptides involved in the regulation of biological responses such as growth, differentiation and angiogenesis. The biological effects of FGFs are mediated by four structurally related receptor tyrosine kinases denoted FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. FGF-1 [FGF-acidic; ECGF; HBGF-1] is a powerful mitogen of cells of mesodermal, ectodermal and endodermal origin. FGF-1 association with heparan sulfate is a prerequisite for activation of FGF receptors. FGF-1 plays a role in various stages of development and morphogenesis as well as in angiogenesis and wound healling processes. Recent data indicate a role of FGF-1 in inflammation and obesity. FGF-1 is selectively induced in fat cells by high-fat diet feeding and established the PPARgamma-FGF-1 axis as a critical pathway that regulates adipose tissue remodelling.

This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor superfamily. The encoded protein is synthesized as a large precursor molecule that is proteolytically cleaved to generate the 53-amino acid epidermal growth factor peptide. This protein acts a potent mitogenic factor that plays an important role in the growth, proliferation and differentiation of numerous cell types. This protein acts by binding the high affinity cell surface receptor, epidermal growth factor receptor. Defects in this gene are the cause of hypomagnesemia type 4. Dysregulation of this gene has been associated with the growth and progression of certain cancers. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

PLA1A Antibody: PLA1A is a phospholipase that hydrolyzes fatty acids at the sn-1 position of phosphatidylserine and 1-acyl-2-lysophosphatidylserine. This secreted protein hydrolyzes phosphatidylserine (PS) in liposomes and can also hydrolyze PS in apoptotic cells and activate platelets where the resulting 2-acyl-lysophosphatidylserine acts as a lipid mediator for mast cells, T cells, and neural cells, suggesting that a major function of PLA1A may be the production of lysophospholipid mediators. PLA1A is upregulated in rat peripheral blood cells bearing long-term surviving cardiac allograft. PLA1A is also expressed in human THP-1-derived macrophages and this expression is upregulated in cells treated with lipopolysaccharide, a TLR4 ligand. This upregulation is inhibited with corticosteroids, which are often used at high dosages to suppress chronic allograft rejection.

CD antigen CD98 is also known as 4F2 cell-surface antigen heavy chain (4F2hc), 4F2 heavy chain antigen, Solute carrier family 3 member 2 (SLC3A2), Lymphocyte activation antigen 4F2 large subunit, is a single-pass type I I membrane protein which belongs to the SLC3A transporter family.. SLC3A2 / CD98 is expressed ubiquitously in all tissues tested with highest levels detected in kidney, placenta and testis and weakest level in thymus. SLC3A2 / CD98 is required for the function of light chain amino-acid transporters and also involved in sodium-independent, high-affinity transport of large neutral amino acids such as phenylalanine, tyrosine, leucine, arginine and tryptophan. CD98 involved in guiding and targeting of LAT1 and LAT2 to the plasma membrane. When associated with SLC7A5 or SLC7A8, CD98 involved in the cellular activity of small molecular weight nitrosothiols, via the stereoselective transport of L-nitrosocysteine (L-CNSO) across the transmembrane. Together with ICAM1, regulates the transport activity LAT2 in polarized intestinal cells, by generating and delivering intracellular signals.

YPEL1 Antibody: YPEL1 (yippee-like 1) is thought to play a role in the epitheloid conversion of fibroblasts and the regulation of the cellular morphology. It is a 119 amino acid protein that localizes to the nucleus and belongs to a family of yippee-like proteins that include YPEL2 - 5, all of which localize to the centrosome and nucleus and are widely expressed in both adult and fetal tissue. The family of human YPEL proteins share a high degree of sequence homology with their rodent homologs, suggesting a conserved function between species. YPEL1 might be an important factor during the development and malignant transformation of tissues.

Proteoglycans mediate binding of APRIL to tumour cells as well as primary lymphoid cells.

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing a hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl− channel associated with the GABAA receptor (GABAA-R) subtype. GABA plasma membrane transporters (GATs) influence synaptic neurotransmission by high-affinity uptake and release of GABA. To date, four distinct GABA transporters have been identified: GAT-1, GAT-2, GAT-3, and BGT-1. GAT-2 is found in a wide range of neuronal and non-neuronal cells including dendrites and axon terminals as well as epithelial cells and cells forming the pia and arachnoid complex (Conti et al., 1999).
